TV will not turn off with remote or manually

I have a Hitachi 46" Rear Projection TV, Model #46F500A, a little over 2 years old.

TV just started not being able to turn off with the remote or manually pushing the push on the front of the TV. When I try and turn off with remote or manually, TV goes to Magic Focus. Magic Focus does its thing and then the TV returns to the TV program--will not turn off.

That means that you either need to buy a replacement remote (or use an universal remote) , or you need to replace the TV IR sensor, that is a small board located inside tv.

Projection TV not working

The Convergence IC's have went out. This is normal for this TV after about 5 years or so. You will need 2 sanyo STK392-150 IC chips, and about 6 resistors to fix. The cost is about 50 US dollars if you do it yourself. If you are not good at soldering, don't try it. However if you are, and can read an ohmeter it will be no problem

TV will not turn off with remote or manual have to unplugged

I suspect the unit might need service. If it were only the remote, new batteries would, of course, be in order. But that part about the manual power button being ineffective suggests something else is affecting the set. Sorry.
