Pioneer VSX-822-k Subwoofer problem

Just got a Pioneer VSX-822 receiver, hooked up my Klipsch speakers and it sounded amazing. Got a Polk powered subwoofer and hooked it up to the sub pre-out using a single rca cable, ran the auto setup and the test tones came through the subwoofer, but no sound comes through the subwoofer when listening to music, watching movies, anything. The subwoofer is turned on, the volume is up, and the frequency is appropriate but I have literally no sound.

I had the same problem. Dont know why the receiver set it up this way but grab your remote, go down to the lower right and select ch setup. Keep on pressing it till your receiver says SW. Then press lev+ on your remote to change the db on your powered sub.

Have you set speaker setup configuration to SUBWOOFER YES? Also check SUBWOOFER OUT ON/OFF button on the front panel.

SOURCE: Pioneer receiver VSX-D411

Yes techtod you are right you do have to tell the receiver what you want it to do usually on the front panel you can access set up menu and go into input set up This is an example Say you plugged the dvd into optical one or coax 1 you must go to the input that says dvd click down till you highlight dig input and then select optical 1 or coax 1 there can be as many as 8 digital inputs so just check wich one you plugged it into and then tell the amp then you should be back to watching your digital movies

SOURCE: Pioneer VSX-505S Subwoofer Installation

That type of subwoofer is not used with this receiver. This receiver actually outputs no power for a subwoofer, therefore only needs a plain ol' rca signal wire. This is due to the fact that you need a powered sub... one that you plug in to the wall and it has its own built in amp. you simply run an rca from yyour 505s to that sub.

SOURCE: Sub Woofer works but it won't when hooked up to the receiver

Yes, go to your menu then setup then speakers then subwoofer, it's probably in "LFE" it should give you the option of Sub, LFE, or Both. that should do the trick. Also check the crossover point and season to taste. While your at it; there should also be a setting for speaker level, toggle down to sub and adjust the sub out level, it's probably at it's minimum setting. Hope this helps

SOURCE: pioneer vsx-519 no sound from center and surround

Make sure that the sound field/programme you have selected is dolby digital not stereo.(On the amp)
You also need to check on the display that is says DIGITAL not ANOLOUGE, as only a digital input, Optical fibre cable, HDMI, COAX will be a digital signal.
If you are using red and white rca connectors, it is not going to work, as this is an Anolouge signal.

I have a Pioneer VSX 823 - K, and when I hook up my Klipsch HG-12 300 watt subwoofer to it, the receiver is prone to overheating or just shutting off with too much bass. Is there a fix to this?

This is receiver thermal going in protect issue and has no bearing to your sub, The sub has its own power amp and not supplied by the receiver. Thermal module may be bad. See a tech.

Just use one of those jacks. Then turn the frequency select dial all the way up. This will work just as well.

How do i connect a sub wooferto my reciever

I own 2 of these Pioneer VSX-D903S units.

The only way to hook a powered subwoofer up to a VSX-D903S is if your subwoofer is equipped with amplified/speaker level terminals on the back, in addition to the line-level input. If you only have a line-level input, do not attempt to hook it up to this receiver.

If you're lucky, and have speaker-level inputs on your powered subwoofer, you would use the amplified terminals (connect to B-channel on the receiver). DO NOT connect anything to the line-level connection.

Alternatively, you could build two unpowered subwoofers, then set the receiver's Impedance switch to LOW, then connect one enclosure to each of the "B-channel" outputs. Connect your regular left and right speakers to their corresponding "A-channel" outputs. [Impedance range: 4 Ohm minimum, 16 Ohm Maximum]

Where do my subwoofer speaker wires get hooked up to on the back of the reciver vsx-815 ??

Hi there, the Pioneer VSX-815 amplifier only feeds out a mono LINE LEVEL output with the subwoofer signal. Therefore you would need to connect the SUB PREOUT jack at the rear of the unit to the "line level input" on a self-powered subwoofer. Hope this helps.. Cheers, Yusuf

Klipsch subwoofer doesn't work with Pioneer receiver

Make sure the subwoofer is hooked up correctly and powered. Also, be sure to make sure the subwoofer is turned on in the Head Unit's settings which can usually be accessed via a button on the face of the Head Unit.

Best Regards,
