I had this problem. It was a blank page in Internet Explorer. I found out that Magentic (a program with Incredimail) was causing this problem. I uninstalled Magentic and I have not had the problem since.I had this problem. It was a blank page in Internet Explorer. Check the swapping monitor function screen FN + F4 on Compaq. It allows to change from internal to external or Both monitors.OR Start in Safe mode with VGA basic settings and configure your Display settings.

Yes, the GPU is faulty. either replace the systemboard or reflow the GPU. Second option is cheaper and you can do it yourself. There's a link for a diy guide to fix that issue.
The connecting data bus between ur laptop monitor and ur motherboard has either been at fault or else there has been some problem with the wire connection between the two......i.e it has been loosen up....
Get ur laptop checked from the hp representative and if possible get ur laptop insured under different laptop policy schemes.....
when you put in the windows installation disc and restart your computer you will get a screen where you have the option to delete and reformat any existing disc partitions, choose delete current partition and reformat in NTFS and then you can install windows on newly formatted drive
This sounds like the symptoms of a known issue with the dv2000 and dv6000 laptops. HP has been doing free motherboard replacement for units beyond the normal one-year warranty period. I won't try to describe it in detail, because you can get all the information you need by following the link below. See if your model is listed, then call HP at the special number shown. If it qualifies, they'll send you a box to return the unit in. My son got his repaired and returned in just a few days. Good luck!
hi,
i m in Hong Kong. The stupid HP repair center charged US 90 just for inspection!!!!! They they said the whole motherboard had to be replaced, thts additional US 630 dollars, the thing is just 1.5 yr old. They also said i don get to keep the broken mother board after replacement. This is simply irresponsible, unethical, sleazy and UNJUST!!
Thanks. right now the computer is fixed for US70. when i hv time, i'll open it up and see if i can figure it out how it was fixed. The shop suggested tht the computer wont last too long. This is such bad quality for HP... Sorry, i hv to do the following for other victims to find this easily:
(can some creative netizen bring this to the public light to pressure HP to do the ethical things??)

can you connect the laptop to an external monitor ? if so does that work ?
Have you checked the cable that connectsthe screen to the motherboard
how did it happen
what did you do to it or did it happen all by itself
