Earlier this year I purchased a Philips Universal remote. I do not know the model number, and don't see any that look like it on your site. The only numbers that I can see are CL034 on a paper tage inside the unit, and 27/07 on the paper tag attached to the battery cover. I just changed from a picture tube TV to a Vizio LCD TV model SV420XVT1A. I would like to program my Philips remote so that it will operate the Vizio. I cannot find my remote manual. How do I use the "learning" feature of the remote, or if that is not possible, what are the codes for Vizio LCD TV's? Thank you. Dan Banks

Unfortunately, you will not be able to program your TV remote for the DVD Player. The MDV2100F7 was produced in 2010. Your Philips TV was has a manual with a copywrite date of 2003. Other documentation on the Philips site is from 2004 and 2006. (I am assuming that the MDV2100F7 is your model since no MDV21001F7 is listed at Magnavox or Funai (which made the unit).)

The codes in a universal remote control are only for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. A DVD player released 4 years later is likely to have a different set of control frequencies.

You need a newer remote or control everything with separate remotes. I wish that I had better news for you.

Sorry but without knowing the particular model number of the remote control or indeed whether or not it is a philips universal remote control, I can't give you a definative answer to your problem. I recomend however, if you haven't changed the batteries in your remote that you put new one's in as the batteries maybe too weak to operate the remote fully, this will at least eliminate this possibility. If you are using using a Philips universal remote control then try resetting the remote using the correct code for machine, if you don't know the code then try the Philips support website for the code for your tv. After that I would consider that either the remote or the machine has developed a fault where the remote's I/R no longer transmits or the machine's I/R receiver no longer works. Personally I would purchase a cheap / middle of the range universal remote and try that to see if that works as it is a much cheaper option than having the machine looked at by a technician. If you would rather there are online sites where you can by genuine remotes for most tv's etc but obviously this is a more expensive option than a universal replacement.
