Just look at your video card if it has at least a vga port and an s-video/composite or another vga port then yes you can do multiple display, if it has the s-video you can get an inexpensive s-video to composite adapter for those older tv's

Type of video card

The Compaq Presario SR1630NX desktop computer, has a PCI-Express x16 slot on the motherboard, for a PCI-Express graphics card.

The Presario SR1630NX came out in 2005.
PCI-Express 2.0 technology came out January 15, 2007.

The Presario SR1630NX uses the PCI-Express 1.1 technology.

You can use a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology, however.

PCI Express 2.0 is Backward Compatible with PCI Express 1.1

You just won't get the full capability, of a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology.

Will you notice?

NO

Dell gx 400, ati rage agp card died, installed ati pro pci in my other GX 400 just to see if it would work. Won't work in GX 400 at all. Wonder why? What video card will work?

hello, the documentation says agp 2 or 4 times agp. you can buy an ati radeon, these agp cards are inexpensive these days. you can get one that has dual monitor support, around 50 bucks. this is what i would do, and loose the pci video card this link is the documentation. good luck! please rate this solution. and if you need further assistance, reply http://support.dell.com/edocs/systems/opgx400/en/UG/index.htm

Choosing a GPU

SAPPHIRE 100256L Radeon HD 4670 1GB
  • Chipset Manufacturer: ATI
  • Core clock: 750MHz
  • Stream Processors: 320 Stream Processing Units
  • Memory Clock: 2000MHz
  • DirectX: DirectX 10.1
  • OpenGL: OpenGL 2.0
  • HDMI: 1 via Adapter
  • DVI: 2
Although it only has a 128bit memory interface it makes up for this by the large amount of stream processors and the high core clock. It's cheaper than the 9600 and better.

Adjusting video card ram

You cannot add more ram to your graphic card, If you want more ram for optimum system performance I recommend buying a new ATI, or NVIDIA graphic card to replace the old one. they both have the best cards on the market and visit their site at NVIDIA or ATI.com for more cards information and where to buy them.
REMEMBER TO PURCHASE THE CORRECT BOARD TYPE FOR YOUR SYSTEM. IF YOU HAVE PCI BUY PCI CARD, AGP=AGP CARD AND PCI-EXPRESS= PCI-XPRESS CARD
I recommend 256MB RAM for PCI systems, 512MB RAM for AGP systems and 1GB RAM for PCI-EXPRESS systems.

Comparable cards to the ATI All In Wonder 9700 Pro 128 MB

Hello there. The Radeon 9700 Pro was a high end graphics card in its time. Today the latest Radeon cards are 3870X2, 3870 and 3850 models. The 3850, while mid-high end range, would be a substantial upgrade from the Radeon 9700 Pro.

If you are planning to upgrade your system, make sure you choose the correct type of card (AGP/PCI-E) and that your current system has a good enough power supply to power a new upgrade.

Hope this helps.
