With power available at the projector and the lamp off (projector off) - hold the input button on and press the power button on and hold for 5 secs. This will reset the lamp timer to zero.

First , start over and unplug it. Wait a few minutes. Turn on AV system that is connected to it but not video or dvd player. With remote, point at is corectly and push power 1 sec or as soon as you see green light come on. Be quick.
If this fails you can wait 4 hours and repeat. OR try only projector with out any feed.

was this bought new or second hand?
There is a "Lamp Time" setting that can be accessd using your remote control, check this setting.
Look on page 40 and after that of your manual about ambient temperature bulb failure.
By powering off or hittign the reset button the bulb should stay on IF the projector is gettign a signal from a device to show an image. If the projector is not hooked up to a device, laptop, TV, etc. the bulb may turn off to save hours of operation.
