First, you need to know what video format can your device support. Then you can search for a video converter to convert your video to that format. And it is not necessary to download Philips video converter, most video can do that.
Just google for a best video converter, you can choose one you like.

When in doubt, do what the message says.

You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert/transfer videos. If the converter is not recognizing a specific video type - FLV, for instance - download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder and convert the videos to AVI format first. Then the Philips Media Converter will recognize them.

The Philips Media Converter is not capable of converting an entire DVD - you will have to acquire video editing software, and then break up the DVD files into 15-minute chunks, and then convert each chunk.

If you are getting a codec error, do a google search for free video codecs - they are out there. Windows Codec Pack and downloading the latest version of quicktime will give you most of these needed codecs.

This player is not capable of playing copyright-protected videos - so don't even bother with them.

Additional information is available both from Philips website and from Arcsoft's website.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatiblevideo file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format thatyour MP3 player uses. If your player cannot play a video then itis an incompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video fileto a format that your MP3 player uses. There are commercial and freeware videoconverters on the Internet. Use Google to search for Video converters. I foundthese converters useful, Kate's Video converter, Any Video converter and CIVideo Converter. I suggest you try some freeware typesfirst and convert a video file, then test this converted video file on your MP3player. To copy/download your video files to yourMP3 player, connect the USB cable from the MP3 player to the USB port on thecomputer. Open the video folder on the MP3 player and copy and paste the videofile/s from the computer to the video folder on the MP3 player.

The Arcsoft Media Converter only recognizes a limited set of file types. I would download a program called Riva FLV Encoder, and convert the files that the Arcsoft does not recognize to AVI format (the product documentation for Riva says that it converts files to FLV format, but it is quite capable of doing the opposite). Once the video files are converted to AVI format, the Arcsoft Media Converter will recognize them.

Philips GOGEAR 4 GB mp3, unable to download videos to it

Merry Christmas Leo! Just got a GoGear for my son and my daughter. I used the bundled application to convert a DIVX AVI file to the Philips GoGear format. Then just open the Windows Explorer, locate the Video folder on the Philips (which should show up as removable drive). Then copy the file over as you would any other data file.
