SOURCE: PS3 not loading games, CD's or Blueray

The problem itself has not been solved but after more investigation I have found out that this is currently un-repairable.
This is because the console itself has a hardware blueray drive failure due to manditory firmware 3.00 released by Sony and there is currently no fix in place.
From what I can see on the net it looks like Sony maybe being sued over this issue. Sony has also stated that they are now looking into this firmware update to see what went wrong, they have not yet made any further comment.

Try the troubleshooting procedure below:

Step 1 - Turn off the playstation 3 by holding the power button on the front of the unit till the power light is red.

Step 2 - Touch and hold the power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the playstation 3 is powering on. Continue to hold the power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset. Continue to hold the power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (power light is red).

Step 3 - Touch and hold the power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the playstation 3 to power on. Continue to hold the power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset. Continue to hold the power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At this point release the power button. if you succeeded in activating the safe mode, you will see a message on the screen saying 'connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button.

Step 4 - Perform the safe mode options in the following order until one of the options works for you. If one option works, do not continue onto the other options.

Restore Default Settings
Restore File System
Rebuild Data Base
Restore PS3 System etc...

Here is how you can fix the not loading/reading disk on PS3.The problem is with the sensors under the Blu-ray drive that are not making contact with the base of the system. So, the first thing to do is open the PS3. Then, you slightly put pressure over the area where the disc loads and after this your disc should begin recognizing all discs inserted and will load a disc without any problems. This should fix your problem. If this does not fix your problem, you will need to send your PS3 to Sony to have it repaired by specialists.

The most common reason for the PS3 not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your PS3 including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your PS3 going again!

How to get a disc out that is stuck
Try this way of getting the disc out:

Turn off your PS3 from back (the main off button) Put your finger on the eject button and once you do, push the switch at the back to switch the PS3 on, and then push the eject button. Hold it like this for fifteen to thirty seconds, or until the drive is forced open.The disc should come out now.

If it doesn't then you'll need to open up your ps3, then open up the disc drive manually. To do it its located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHS07EFGZ3g

the drive is on the left, it unplugs then you need a small phillips head screwer to take off the top of the drive and then you can remove the disc. Then put the screws back and then go ahead and plug the drive back in and the put the ps3 back together.

Ok, if you are having problems with loading games/movies that are disc based and not ones that are in the HDD (Hard Drive) or on a usb drive (This means digital movies and games), chances are your PS3's Blue Ray drive is damaged and you will need to get a replacement. If you can't play anything even if it's Digital/HDD based or Disc based, you may have to send it in for repairs, or get a Replacement PS3.

Ps3 disc drive not working.
You've done everything I would have done honestly. Take a can of air and blow it into the drive to make sure dirt or dust isn't on the laser which could affect if it sees discs or not.

The better thing to try if you are good at opening up your ps3 and then removing your drive and opening that is to take a damp q-tip with a bit of glass cleaner and clean your laser in the drive gently. Then put the drive back together and hook the cables back up to the ps3. You can leave the cover to the ps3 off for this step. Turn on the ps3 and try different blu-ray, dvd's, music cd's, game discs, etc. If it still doesn't read any of them then either the laser or the drive i bad. If it reads some discs and not others then its a weak laser and the laser would need to be replaced.

If you have to replace the laser or the drive, you can do a search on Ebay and usually find them fairly cheap.

Try using other discs, like movies, blu-rays, or a dvd. If those don't work, there is a problem with your disc drive and it will need to be sent in for repairs.
