I had the same problem until I decided to go in to figure out what was happening. I am not a technician but I'm a pretty handy engineer...anyway I opened up the panel and separated the big bulky electronics board which is encased in a metal enclosure from the LCD panel itself. After carefully doing so you will find that the electronics which actually control the LCD is covered by a long and thin aluminum plate. This cover can be easily removed by unscrewing 3 or 4 screws. Now here is where the problem arises. I believe that there is one chip (the biggest one you will see) that gets very hot. I measured temperatures in excess of 110 degrees F. It makes sense that temperature is the problem since the lines begin after the panel has been on for some time. My simple solution to this was placing a fan right over this chip. In doing so you wont be able to place back the thin aluminum cover but that's a small price to pay in getting your screen back to normal. The fan should also be small enough for you to put the LCD Panel back together (without this thin aluminum cover). You can hardwire the fan to the Speaker voltage output. I made this fix to my LCD panel about 2 weeks ago and since I haven't seen the lines again. In my opinion Dell knew that this would be a flaw in the LCD because if you notice the power supply for the panel is external which is uncommon in my opinion. The power supply tends to get really hot so in an effort to prolong the life of the panel they made this an external attachment. Well this obviously didn't solve the problem and they went ahead and put it out into the market. Seems to be a problem of LCD panel? Cannot be cost effectively repaired. Samir
