No remote--how do I record a dvd

I have a Panasonic PVD4744 DVD Player / VCR Combo, I do not have the remote or the manual. Is there a way I can record my VHS tapes to DVd without the remote? It doesn't seem apparent that I can do this. Thank you for your help.

On the lower right side of my unit there are STOP - PLAY - RECORD buttons
for operation without a remote control.

PANASONIC VCR/DVD TV

If you have sound knoledge in electronics, and experience to repair electronic printed circuit boards, you can troublehoot the problem to your player. The power supply regulator board should be troubleshooted. In most cases, this board has to be replaced as card basis.

Remote broke how can i record vcr/dvd player . wnat to record on my vcr?

I assume this combo unit has basic front panel buttons (behind the right-hand door - where the copy button is) - there should be a drive select (VHS or DVD) button stop play record. I strongly advise if you really need a remote for this model, particularly when it comes to menu/setup options, that you search various online and similar stores for one.

The cost will depend where you go and who you deal with - and if the remote is available (you can always ask Panasonic about a remote for a DMR-EZ48V even though your model may be a DMR-EZ47V - they both use the same remote (N20AYB000136 or equivalent number); they can probably tell you how to order one through them, the price, etc.

A universal remote may work, but with limited functions. If the combo unit works in general, you should not have too much trouble obtaining a replacement remote (just keep in mind the model above).

The remote may cost just over $100 but remember, this is only if you want full control of your combo unit.

The manual for my DVD-V3500 says that you can't record from DVD to the VCR. But, can you record from the VCR to a DVD?

In short, no. Not with this unit on its own. No function for recording from or copying to DVDs exists with this brand/model.

A separate DVD recorder is required. I don't know of anyone who records DVDs to tape these days.

You are correct; the manual states clearly you cannot record from the DVD deck in this machine, which is a bit unusual, considering other brands of combos such as LG, SONY and PANASONIC offered an input (which was between channels or could be selected via remote) to allow DVD to VHS recording within the one unit.

I would presume you can connect this combo to the input of a DVD recorder, play a videotape and it will work via cables. DVDs last longer than tapes anyway.

Power outage

I bet you $120.00 you did not have a 1000VA UPS on it. If I was right, you can pay me now, and I can send you one.

You need a new TDVD-VCR.....They are so cheap now to replace...just replace it.

The thinner they are the faster they blow...by the way they have a computer in there. You are lucky nothing else blew

Will not play any DVD

I may have bad news for you. Here's my story with the PVD4744S.

I watched over an hour of a DVD-video disc one night, no problems. The next night, I played only the intro; then the DVD player gave a message, "This type of disc cannot be played. Please insert another disc." Thereafter, I couldn't play any of several DVDs.

The manual gives little help:
http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/PVD4744.PDF

My disappointment is exacerbated by the declining availability of DVD/VHS players with an RF modulator. Maybe Panasonic should create a repair kit for aging devices.
