The iPad doesn't support Ethernet (aka wired) connections. It's Wifi or nothing. There are no adapters and the iPad has no way to handle this.

That being said there should be no need to connect the iPad to the router with an Ethernet cable. If you can't get a good signal, you either have to move closer to the router, buy a router with better range, or install range extenders/antennas.

I do receive wireless connection by simply turning on my router and my iPad 2.They are next to each other but the router does not give enough power to make the iPad receive enough bandwith. Is there a router and/or any range extender that you know of and recommend (of course not guaranteed!) Thanks.

Personally I use three Cisco/Linksys E3000 Routers which I purchased refurbished from Amazon. They are all linked together and I have full signal everywhere in my house. Another option is to use a range extender such as the Netgear WN3000RP. I've never actually used this one before but it's easy and there is only minimal setup required. It will be compatible with your existing router because it's a Netgear product.

I need a password to reach the interneton my ipad...it asks for a cisco password

If your wireless router was setup using the default configuration, the password, also called a security key should be on the bottom of the router. Alternatively you should be able to specify on your ipad that you want to connect using WPS, and your router will have a WPS button on it. Pushing it for 2-3 seconds would allow your ipad to connect without needing the password. You should be able to google "connecting ipad to wifi using WPS" and if necessary include your router model to get specifics about the location of the WPS button on your router.

Your iPAd should see your wireless network like other devices do. Does your iPad not prompt you to connect to your home network? If it does you should enter your wireless pass key manually on your iPad.

Try setting the channel of the router to another one, like 11. The default channel competes with land line wireless phones, yours or your neighbor. Resetting to higher channel usually does it. I have included the highlights of what SHOULD be set in a router.

Wireless Router

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below.

Things to set:

Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes.

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID.

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.

I have a WZR-HP-G300NH router and am having trouble connect my ipad to it. Ipad is asking for a pass word. How do I fix it?

I recently got this router and had trouble keeping a wireless connection to my ipad. On the router, I set up security with wpa2/psk and set a password and was able to enter that password on the ipad and got a connection but only briefly. After repeated losses of connection, I took encryption off and now it works fine. This is a terrible solution though and eventually want to get encryption back on .

My linksys router will now allow my Ipad to connect. The ipad does connect to other routers execept mine

usually with the IPAD. You need to put the correct settings into the wireless connection settings.
You wll need your SSID (the name your router shows up as when you search for wireless connections)
Your security type ( WEP or WPA/WPA2)
your wifi password.
I have connected many IPADS, as long as you have the correct details it should work
Are you setting the correct security type?
