Few days back we reviewed Advanced Device Locks that can be used to lock SMS and other applications in a Symbian mobile phone . But ADL was a shareware mobile software and you need to pay after few days of use .Here is another application called Active SMS Lock that can lock SMS messages in Nokia and other Symbian devices . When you are typing SMS, push the * button and hold it, then scroll down. Are there smileys?

Your current firmware version is 032.010. And it doesn't supports Smileys in texting. But Nokia has recently upgraded C5 firmware from 032.010 to 061.005. This firmware will solve the issue. They've enabled Smileys aka Emoticons in Messaging this time.

For updating to this latest firmware ..
Go to Menu>settings>SW Update.

You must have a NET package enabled since it downloads some files from Nokia Server. Also make sure that you've enough battery power since it takes some time.

Unfortunately Nokia E63 do not have symbols and smileys already installed on the phone. However you can find some 3rd party apps online which you can download and install on your phone. But these smileys will not be visible to the receiving party unless the same app is installed in the receiving S60 device also. With other OSs and makes, it may or may not work.

When you have finish typing the text message and you want to insert smileys, press the option button and scroll down to insert smileys and put the smileys of your choice.

This feature can be gotten on phone via certain software's, I'll advice that you use a certain software called Rei. Please get it free from this link and download on your phone.

As sms is text only, people will get text messages only. To convert the smiley-characters into smiley images, the receiver should have support for emoticons, or have a 3rd party program to translate the emoticons. As most phones consider SMS as text messages, they won't convert them to emoticons...

You could try sending a message to yourself, or someone else with a k850i...Just to try.
