White Noise Sound

I was minding my own business watching the TV. The sound suddenly changed to static, much like if the channel had been changed to a completely static picture channel. The picture still comes in fine, but all the TV channels are giving the static sound. It's happenning on the regular local channels and channel 3 for the VCR/satellite setting so that I get the static sound on any satellite channel or when I try playing a VCR tape. However, the sound works fine for the DVD setting, video input 1. I've tried checking all the connections and menu audio setting, but still can't find the problem. Any ideas? If there is some kind of electronic problem, why would the speakers be fine with the DVD but nothing else? Thanks.

Your problem is somewhere between the tuner and video detector circuit. The signal entering your TV carries: video, red color, and blue color as well as sychronizing pulses for color and horizontal and vertical deflection ( actually vertical sync. is derived from horizontal sync.) along with burst pulses to synchronize the color. After all these, the sound is an fm signal entwined with a pilot signal for stereo audio. WHAT a mess! After the audio passes through all this, it is detected and sent to the audio processor. If any frequency has drifted away from it's value then you loose the sound. SO... your problem could be in any of the tuned circuits or in the audio processor IC (chip). Any component changing value could creat this problem. Most likely the audio processor IC. You'd need to have the set checked out by a tech to find your problem. Stargazer

Vizio TV has intermittent white noise issues

If the TV is connected to a Set-Top box such as a cable box or Satellite box, try a new box, otherwise it would be a defective main board.

Tv picking up channels except its all static, colorless, and loud static noise..

If the set was purchased in the USA it has the USA format which is NTSC--unless the signal is NTSC picture will be in black and white and no sound.

If the signal format there is PAL OR SECAM you will need a converter that takes that and outputs NTSC for the set to work properly there.

High audio static on all but one channel of my RCA TV

had this problem for a while only just found the cause, its either your tuner flipped out which means you just neded to retune the tv and it should be fixed if not that there was this setting i found still not sure what it is or means but you could select these letters i think there was S, BG and some other ones but i changed it to the top one which was BG and it fixed the static sound with the clear picture problem just stuff around with the channel settings and see if you have that setting hope that helped

Suddenly no sound & no picture overnight: is my TV dead?

If you have static siugnal, sure TV is not dead.

Check the aerial cable, ensure it is well plugged in and getting signal.

If you are using a receiver box, check cables to TV and receiver (freeview, sat, cable etc.), try setting channels on receiver again, if it does not work but you get static, then either the cables or receiver are defective.

Test the TV on standalone , connecting it to an external antenna.
Tune again the channels, and save the preset.
If still no signal then the antenna socket on the TV may be defective.

Try using the TV with a DVD.

If you can watch DVDs, and TV is not keeping channels preset, and you tried all the above, at this point htere may be a fault in the tuner card inside tv.

Call the phone number listed on tv user manual to get support, and eventually repair it.
