try another memory card, if problem still there then its a fdaulty cardreader.. if thats the case then get a new internal keypad fitted as that has the memory card reader attached. will cost u around £20 fitted
are you doing it for messages, if yes, it works properly but whenever you remove your memory card it reverts to phone memory, you have to revert setting back to memory card
change your default memory to Memory Card in Phone seeting then delete some messages from inbox. Aftr changing the Default Memory the phone will stores

Hey there actually i also had the same problem but a minute ago so a review in the site http://cdpsolutions.blogspot.com/search/label/Nokia%20N73 and it said that formatting my cell with the number *#7370# would help if no try doing the other way of formatting that is : switch off your mobile phone and simultaneously press 3 keys that is green dial, star key (*), and no.3 key while pressing all these key switch on your mobile the factory settings will be restored or as to say your phone will be fresh as new, JUST DO REMEMBER TO TAKE A BACK UP OF ALL YOUR REQUIRED DATA because mine got deleted few minutes ago. hope this works, take care gob bless bye
Try removing your memory card and then using the phone.
If this solves the problem, then might be your phone is unable to deal with the amount of data stored on your memory card.
OR
Remove applications like 'FS caller' and applications that eat resources of your phone.
