Screen goes black a second after turning on. Still have sound and remote function although cannot see anything.

check out inverter board that powers backlights.

Well it does sound like something is amiss. It may not show on the screen, but something isn't right. Unless you're comfortable diagnosing and repairing live electronics on the bench then I suggest you take it to a repair shop.

Well it does sound like something is amiss. It may not show on the screen, but something isn't right. Unless you're comfortable diagnosing and repairing live electronics on the bench then I suggest you take it to a repair shop.

No picture

I had one that had a black screen and fixed the problem by repairing the inverter. When I opened the unit I looked at the capacitors on the inverter board and found them swollen. I looked at the bottom of the board and found that the fuse had opened up. The caps were a cheap quality low temp variety 150uF at 25V I replaced them with 330uF 25 volt 105C caps. I then replaced the 2.5A surface mount fuse with an axial 2.5A pico fuse and the TV worked beautifully.

A17w221 goes off automatically with power on

I have the same problem. The next stage is that the picture won't come on at all and the blue light will constantly blink. I think the light source is bad. Noit sure though.
