My newer Sylvania LC195SL8 suddenly has no sound on 4 channels. I've re-booted, disconnected the dvd player, re-set the channel scanner multiple times. Two other televisions on the same Comcast cable service are working fine. Do I need to make use of the warranty or is there something else I can try?
My Comcast cable support person told me to locate the SAP button on the matching remote. It was indicated by a musical note & I hadn't attempted any repair with it. Once I pressed that button, a screen idicator showed 'SAP'. Choices were SAP, Main and Mono. When I choose 'Main', the sound was restored to all channels. There was nothing wrong with the set. It depends on the type and age of your TV. Most older units work on either channel 3 or 4. You may also have a switch on the DVD player that allows you to chose channel 3 or 4.
Most newer units have an "input" selection that allows you to select the signal you want to receive such as, DVD, Video Game, Cable, TV, etc. My newest DVD player only comes with a HDMI cable that goes to my TV and automatically switches when playing.
A lot of options depending upon the model and age of your equipment.
Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.
Before you rate this solution let me know what you find first.
However, most remotes are limited to codes for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your TV is newer than your remote, then you may need to get a newer remote.
it means that your tv has to be on channel 3 or 4 to use device. once your tv is on one of those channels, you should be able to program your dvd/vcr to record and check to see if there is a menu button on your controller. if it is a newer tv, try setting menu on component1, aux 1 or anything but tv..if there is a menu button on controller for dvd/vcr player select that once you see the home screen on tv...
If the vcr/dvd player is plugged in to your TV using composite or component cables (Google images them for a view) then you would select an "INPUT" not a channel. Old TV-VCR tv hookups required a channel select of usually channel 3 or 4 but newer equipment uses an INPUT selection usually found on the remote. Look at the back of the tv where you plugged in the dvd and it should be labeled what input it will be.
If the TV doesn't have AV input jacks, you'll need an RF converter so you can watch the DVD player on channel 3 or 4. You can find them at Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, Home Depot and most places that sell TVs for around $15. Connect the audio and video from the DVD player to the inputs on the converter, and the converter's output to the TV antenna jack. Set the TV to whichever channel the converter is set for (3 or 4, with a switch on the converter so you can choose) and you'll be in business.
try looking in the setup menu by pressing the menu button on the remote and navigate through the menu to find the setup options hopefully you should beable to change the defualt channel setting
hope this helps,ben
That set has lived too long, methinks.
The yellow one is customarily composite video (no sound) and the white one is (again 'normally') the left channel of a stereo input which is something you don't have, otherwise there should be a red-marked jack for the right channel.
In your case, the white jack may be a monaural input for sound.
Can you try just running a/v cable from your tv output to the inputs on the ilo, then whatever you watch on your tv you can record on your dvd burner. My new SDTV doesnt have audio out except Coax so this won't work for me on that tv. Why doesnt the newer tv's have audio AND video outputs???
