According to Sony, your Vaio isn't eligible for Windows 7 upgrade. You could look at your device list and search individually for the new drivers, but if Windows hasn't spotted what you have and been able to load something that is at least compatible if not correct, then chances are slim. Never hurts to look though.

Install the Memory card Driver for windows vista to resolve the issue as the Driver for the Windows vista will work with windows 7 OS.

The drivers for Windows 7 are not released by Sony. However, my experience says installing the Vista drivers will do the trick. I will tell you which all drivers to install in the computer to for mass storage device. Please install the drivers in the same order:

The PC should install that driver itself automatically when you connect a generic device to it such as a flash drive. If it does not try connecting your device to a different USB port.
If the drivers will not install it may be that you have a faulty mass storage device

If you have connected any external storage device such as external HDD, USB drive etc.
1. Unplug and replug the device.
2. Reinstall the USB drivers.
3. If a mobile is connected, then install the drivers for the mobile phone.
Also try reinstalling the memory card reader drivers.

I have problem with 'mass storage controller device' to sony vaio vgn-sz640n
Do you have a storage device inserted in your usb?thats the device needs a driver. Once you installed the driver for that device that " mass storage controller device " will disappear.
But if you dont insert any thing theres a problem with your sony viao. try installing the drivers in this page.

I have a sony vaio vgn-sz491n. i have loaded windows 7 professional, 64bit onto it. in the device manager, it shows that a driver for a mass storage controller is missing. where can i find this...
Most likely missing a driver for SD/MC card reader
The problem is that Sony doesnt offer drivers for 64-bit windows so the other 32-bit drivers will not be compatible.
You have the options to install the windows versions supported by sony from esupport.sony.com (Vista or XP)
Or try installing windows 7 32-bit and installing the missing drivers from esupport (Vista section) as usually they are compatible.
If the driver is still missing you will need to update the driver from device manager (previously installed from esupport) and then select to browse or select a location, which will be %temp% or what is the same the temp folder for your account C\users\your_user_name\appdata\temp. This folder is usually hidden but it will work if you just type %temp%

Hi, I have an external hard drive GHD225U40 that
go to device manager on computer, (while the external hardrive is connected) find the drive on the list and right click it or somthing, and look to see if you can update any drivers on it..this is more then likely your problom because when you switched from xp to 7 it might have wiped out the drivers for the external hardrive
