I get those every now and then among my photos... I cannot download photos until I clear out the bad ones that are "unrecognizable format" by reviewing them in the camera screen and then deleting the bad ones.

Message "unrecognized file format"

Is the error message appearing on the caemra or the computer?

I will in both cases recommend to format the SD card and to update your firmware.

Format your SD card. NOTE this will delete all existing data on your SD card.
Do the following:
  1. Insert the memory card into the camera. Make sure the card is firmly seated (push in the card until it clicks into place).
  2. Turn on the camera.
  3. Press the Menu button, then go to the Setup Menu.
Scroll up or down to the Format option, then press the OK button

Instructions to uploading new firmware:
Connect the camera with the computer.
Turn the camera on.
Click onto the link and follow the instructions.

If successful please give me the feedback as a rating or recommendation. Thank You

Unrecognized format

It sounds like your SD card might be faulty.
It is very unfortunate since the only thing that can help this is to format the card, which will delete the information on the card.

Before formatting I would try to transfer the pictures using a card-reader or go to a shop to see if they are able to retrieve the pictures for you.

Instructions to format the SD card:

Format
Press OK

Kodak Easyshare V803 "unrecognized file format."

Sounds like there is a fault in the SD card.

Try an alt. card reader and computer.

Hopefully you will have the chance to retrieve the pics. If not ;(

Once pics are transferred. The SD card needs to be formatted. Remember this will delete all data on the card.

When i am reviewing my pictures i am receiveing a error saying unrecognized file format. How can I correct this?

The camera cannot read the picture format. or the picture that you want to view is corrupted., you may try to transffer the unreadable file into computer using memory card reader., or transffer all the picture into computer then format your memory card

Unrecognized format

There are a few possibilities. I'll start with the most hopeful:
Did you happen to share your camera card with another camera or device? If so, the images may be of a type or resolution that the camera cannot display, but the images may be transferable to your PC or Mac for use. Try to transfer them directly from the camera (it won't hurt the pictures), but if they are still problematice, you may want to use a card reader to move the data.
Another possibility is that your card was full or your battery was not fully charged when you took some of the pictures, but this would not effect all of them. Those images would not be recoverable, as they are likely incomplete files.
The final possibility I can think of is that they got zapped going through the airport scanner. That happened to me once.
Usually they allow you to set cameras aside to avoid this.
I hope you are able to get them back.
DO not use the camera card for anything more until you reformat it an take some test shots to verify that it will work for you next time you need it.
Good luck.

I got some pictures with my new kodak camera and after i wanted to review the pictures, there was a ? that says unrecognized file format and no pictues seems to be anywhere. will you tell me what the...

Unrecognized file format usually means that the image was taken using another camera.

If this is not the case, you may try a card reader and it may be a faulty memory card. Once you have backed up your images, try to format the card in the camera itself (if Kodak has that feature-I'm sure it's in the menu) and try again to use it. Formatting the card in the camera may solve the problem in the future.
