Connecting Ipod touch 8(GB) to Wi-fi

I have an ipod touch and a DG834G router, my ISP is AOL and I can't connect the ipod to AOL via the wireless connection. Everytime I enter the network settings manually the device says ( Unable to connect to network). Can somebody possibly offer a solution please!!!!!!!?????? I've eneetered the original network settings and followed solutions on the Apple website, ive even phoned Apple customer support and (after1.5hrs) they still couldn't figure out what the problem is.
I've entered the mac address in the routers allowed list, i've entered every IP address, subnet mask, router address and DNS server addresses, and no luck. Just bought my Apple IPod Touch (8GB). Was trying to connect to my own wifi connection. I was using D-Link DSL2640T Wireless Router.I do exactly the same as how i connect my Mac Book. Search network and key in WEP password. It shows connection has established and there is IP address too. But still i could not use safari , and the pop up menu says that Cannot Open Page :  Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet.

    Hi, I am experiencing the same problem, status of wi-fi connection signal is full and ok but whenever I try opening web page (safari, youtube) it still does not work because of no connection.

    i also ahve the same problem.......aol being very unhelpful, I can log onto other wifi conections at friends just problem with aol !!!!

    Ahhhhrrrrr. I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, my Touch has connected apparently fine to my wireless connection yet the blooming thing still can't open Safari???

    same problem, i have a wireless connection and everything is working

    i click on safari and put in the address but then a message pops up saying:

    " Cannot Open Page

    Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet."

    Im trying to connect to my router through wifi, I entered the IP and Subnet mask and I do get the WIFI signal thing at the top left but when i try to open up Google it Says "Cannot open page : Safari cannot open page because it is not connected to the internet." The blue wifi is still there. Ive entered the password too.

    It even says " Succesfully connected!"

Sometimes the wifi systems only work with windows, the ipod only uses safari and thats what you see on the error. Its connected but safari cannot open it since it is not windows

Connecting my ipod touch to my wireless router through wi fi
Hi,

Check for the password on the router configuration page to make sure tat you are using the correct one:

1. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox).
2. Access the router usually http://192.168.0.1 else try http://www.routerlogin.com
3. Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password unless you have changed it).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Check if 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)' or 'WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)' is selected under 'Security Options'.
6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the passphrase.
7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the Key that has a black dot before it.
This is the code required for connecting the wireless computer to the routers' wireless network.
Enter the same password on IPOD to connect to the wireless network.

netgear support software could be bad. The ipod might not be able to read signal. umm try restoring the ipod. then plug it to your computer let it recognize it and then before you add ANYTHING to it, go straight to the setting and put in the router number and everythign and see if it works. I know people hate it but restoring it usually works. Its just simple small virus's that hit your ipod through songs and stuff and it eventually makes everything stop working. So get back at me let me know if restoring it worked.

Connecting Ipod touch 8(GB) to Wi-fi
Hi,
I want to tell you that there might be two problems for your concern.

1. Your router is not working properly
2. Your Ipod Touch is not working properly

But it might be possible that both devices working fine just the compatibility issue.

First of all i can suggest you that you can upgrade the firmware for your router.

Then you can reconfigure your wireless setting on your router.

Then tried to put static ip on your ipod touch in the network setting option

IP address: 192.168.0.15
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Primary DNS: 192.168.0.1
Secondary DNS: 4.2.2.2

Then tried again to connect wirelessly with your ipod touch make sure you dont required to add mac address for you ipod touch and also you can click on the option called "Wireless Access Point"

Then you can see the option " Turn Access Control On" you can uncheck this option.

Try again i believe that will resolve your concern.

Many Wi-Fi issues can be resolved by doing the following:
Basic troubleshooting
  • Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.
  • Verify that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router or base station.
  • Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable/DSL modem are connected to power and turned on.
  • Check whether other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.

Connecting Ipod touch 8(GB) to Wi-fi BEWARE SPAM NUMBER +1-800-532-4187 BELOW
After fighting with this for the last couple of hours I have my ipod touch working with the netgear DG834G(v3) router. The fix is a bit odd and I am not entirely sure why it works but I thought I would share and hopefully it might help you out …

First I think that the WEP encryption simply does not work between these two devices and causes some very strange behaviour – the WEP 'authentication type' setting I had on the 'wireless settings' page was set to 'shared key' – I flicked this to 'automatic' & strength to ‘128 bit’ - hit apply and finally I found I was able to connect without an error message (after inputting the correct WEP key). Unfortunately the DHCP did not work correctly after this and I kept receiving IP addresses in the range of 169.254.x.x (an internal default) rather than my networks expected 192.168.0.x range. The Ipod touch couldn’t find any DNS servers or connect to the internet.

To get round this I set the router ‘security options’ to use WPA instead (WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)) instead of WEP. Set the new WPA password at the bottom of the wireless settings page - again hit apply - and configured the ipod to use the new password and WPA PSK instead of WEP. This worked fine – although it does mean I have to change the settings on all my other wireless devices around the house!

The weird thing is that although the router isn’t using WEP encryption changing the 'authentication type' setting back to ‘shared key’ in the WEP menu breaks the WPA connection again – very odd? I blame netgear and their obviously crazy wep code :)
