Hi Ross,
The error code E A on your Smeg induction cooktop indicates a communication error between the electronics of the cooktop and the specific burner. This could be caused by a fault in the electronics of the burner, a wiring issue, or a problem with the main control board of the cooktop.
You can try to reset the cooktop by turning off the power supply to it and then turning it back on after a few minutes. If the error code persists, it is recommended to contact Smeg customer service or a certified technician for assistance in diagnosing and repairing the issue.
Induction cook tops do not heat by convection... only the cook ware gets hot. Your cook ware has to be made or encapsulate ferrous materials. More simply put; if a magnet won't stick to the pot it won't work on an induction cook top.
induction cookers work by magnetic fields so they are a coil of copper wire and a driver circuit it sounds to me the driver board has a problem but you would need to test the induction coils first.
It appears the main control has detected a faulty or error condition. "E0" should be followed by two more digits to indicate which error has occurred. Let's try turning electrical power supply off. It is necessary to wait roughly ten minutes to reset cook-top main controls. If resetting the power does not correct the issue or provides a new error code, at this point, I would recommend having a service technician to diagnose the problem before investing in unnecessary parts.
I have the same problem, and resetting the breaker didn't work. There is no child lock on my unit that I can find. Was your issue ever fixed? Does anyone have any other suggestions?
If Shr (5hr) appears on the display then the cooktop is in showroom
mode. To exit showroom mode the cooktop must be locked by pressing and
holding the key symbol for 5 seconds. After the cooktop is locked, press
and hold the melt touch pad for 5 seconds.
I realize this is over a year old. I have the same unit with the same error code. Last night, mine made a popping noise followed by smoke and then displayed the 41 and all E's. I pulled the breaker immediately. I'm sure that at least one controller board is toast.
I called Sears and it is under warranty but for parts only, so I guess I will give them a call and schedule the repairman. This should be fun.
Same problem here...looking for solution
