It's dead. The HDD models are basically obsolete - you may have purchased it 4 months ago, but it was manufactured 3 years ago. Here is the basic troubleshooting to be sure, but it won't work:

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

My philips gogear vibe wont turn on

Reset your GoGear with something sharp like the tip of a pen or the end of a paper clip,

if you're device isn't working properly or there's a frozen display.

Insert the sharp object into the "Reset" hole (located at the bottom of the player), and hold it there until the device turns off.

If resetting the device does nothing to restore the display, access the "Philips Device Manager" through your computer to recover the GoGear.

Click "Start" on your computer, then "Programs," "Philips Digital Audio Player," "Aria Device Manager," and then "Philips Device Manager."

This will launch the "Philips Device Manager." Make sure the GoGear is turned off completely. Connect your GoGear to your computer while holding down the "Volume Up" button.

Continue to hold the "Volume Up" button on your GoGear, until the "Philips Device Manager" recognizes the device and enters recovery mode.

Click the "Repair" button when it appears on your computer, then folow the steps to fully recover the GoGear.

Properly disconnect your GoGear from your computer and restart the device.

Recharge your device if your GoGear dies suddenly while playing.

Connect the GoGear to your computer via the supplied USB cord.

Plug one end of the USB cord into a functional, open USB port on your computer. Plug the free, smaller end of the USB cord firmly into the small USB jack on your GoGear and turn your computer on.

This will begin the charging process of your GoGear.

If recharging doesn't work, the battery may need to be replaced.

Check that your GoGear isn't in standby mode. Hold the "Power" button for two seconds to turn it back on.

hope this helps

Just bought a new philips gogear mp4, how long does it take to charge initially and would the screen be blinking when charge to cpu, because mine does not blink.

there is battery indicator in every chargable instrument. try to find that indicator in your media player. initially it should not take more then 24 hrs to charge the battery fully. if the battery indicator does not blink it seems that battery is fully charged. remove charging & observe how long it works.

Philips GoGear SA3125/37 MP3 Player Charger cable

The charger cable is sold by an outside company - Philips can give you the number for that company, or you can order it online.

If you already have a charger cable, plug the mp3 player into your computer - it will charge as long as the hold/lock switch is not engaged.

My philips gogear sa3325/97 is not charging

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged - it will prevent successful charging. Also, make sure you let it charge for 3 hrs the first time.

Cant get mp3 to turn on

check and see if the hold button is down, if so slide it to the off position. Reset the device by holding in the power button and the volume + button down for three 3 seconds. This will reset the device. also make sure that it is charged. If these do not work than you can contact philips on there website

Gogear became dead suddenly

Battery is too low for player to charge. There is a firmware fix for this at www.p4c.philips.com

Fix cannot be applied until player is working again.

If you know someone who has the same player, put their battery in your unit to power up and apply firmware update to fix problem. Then swap batteries back again

Another way to get the player working is to remove the side panel to disconnect battery. Plug in the mains charger and reconnect the battery. You may need to do this several times before the player springs into life.
If this doesn't work try disconnecting the charger and battery alternately and wait 5 secs between attempts.

PHILIPS GOGEAR 6GB

The same thing happened to me. I contacted Philips and they sent me this solution, which worked for me. Question My GoGear has no power/no display even connected to the power supply with the AC adapter. What should I do? Answer Do a soft reset by pressing and holding the Power On/OFF button and the volume + key for a couple of seconds. Then connect your GoGear to a power outlet with the AC Adapter to charge the player again for around 30 minutes. Try turning the unit back on and see if the display appears. If the display is able to come on again, keep the player connected for another 3-4 hours until it is fully charged before use, else contact our Customer Care Center for assistance.
