I recently bought and installed the WBR-2310 router and the it constantly loses conncetion. I have a westell modem and DSL. I disabled the PPOE on the westell modem, which allows the WBR-2310 to take over the PPOE function. I'm running version 1.05 on the router and I have reset the router and modem several times, it's a little better but the internet connection freezes or drops out frequently. Any ideas???

I just moved and i brought my old apt's wbr-2310 router to the new house, when i start using, i found i have the same problem. I listened to rbaily. I downgraded my firmware from 1.0.4 to 1.0.3 but i got worse connection drop out time within 20 mins. when i use 1.0.4 connection drop once a day, which still annoying to connect my computer with router by LAN1 cable and checking what's going on everyday. i have change my channel and done almost everything but didn't fix this problem. any one help?
now i upgraded again back to 1.0.4 seems like stable but i know it'll prob drop out again within 24 hrs. i called dlink, they told me 1.0.4 is most stable firmware so far. has anyone who downloded firmware 1.0.5 has same connection drop out problem?
called dlink again at 2:00am~ amazing dlink tech fixed my problem, so to share how the tech told me. this problem has bothering me since i moved to new place for about 2 wks. i am glad now my router is very stable, no drop out at all. first thing to do is go to the dlink pagehttp://192.168.0.1 type in login user name: admin and no password. hit log in. go to ADVANCED tab, and on the left side go to ADVANCE NETWORK. lastly go to WAN PORT SPEED, change from 10/100 MBPS to 100 Mbps.
detail about this problem is that dlink firmware

good luck to everyone who have this same problem! GOGO!
one more help to go, just checked this website and found people fixed the connection by downloading DI 624 router firmware

WBR-2310 disconnect/reset issues (and solution)
If you have a WBR-2310 router, it might actually be a DI-624 router in disguise.
The
WBR-2310 firmware is crappy - if too many connections run through it at
one time (aka, if you're using BitTorrent), it'll crash and reset.
Problem:
You'll see pings slow down then time out, then if you're on wireless, the wireless connection will drop.
Solution:
Upgrade
to the DI-624 Rev D firmware. This has been echoed at several places as
a working fix, and this livejournal post is just to confirm that the
recent DI-624 Revision D Firmware version 4.0.4, beta 44 WORKS for
WBR-2310. It fixes the bittorrent problem and as far as I can tell,
ping responses are much, much more stable. It would flake out a bit
while deleting the useless "virtual server" applications, but once I
got rid of most of them, things got better. Potentially unnecessary,
but I prefer it clean.

You'll find the DI-624 firmware here:

again tried the "Upgrade
to the DI-624 Rev D firmware" didn't solve my disconnect issues, but locking the WAN at 100 mbps did..
up side is the connection got stable, downside is downloading speed is low. anyone who have problem and fixed it please help.. thank you.

I'm pretty sure that downgrading the firmware to 1.0.3 will work. I had been running at this level for quite some time and for some reason I decided to upgrade to the latest version which started the problems for me. I am downgrading to this now and I expect better results. All of the firmware versions are available at http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=470&sec=0. You pick the right hardware revision. PLEASE NOTE: Save off/remember your settings as when you change the firmware it resets all of them back to system defaults.
On my WBR-2310 the issue was only wireless dropping out. Had the exact problem on older DI-524 and found out same boards in both units. Examined Atheros wifi chip overheating from poor ventilation and no heatsink using wireless. Modded box on another topic here to increase airflow and heatsink the chip. No problems now and good performance on both units. The Atheros chip on the board was too hot to touch, all other chips on the board are normal.
If you look at the back it tells you what firmware and h/w A or B or C
Just go to D-link support site and upgrade the firmware to latest. It is how I solved my wireless connection dropping frequently. btw-- I got WBR 1301 and h/w B1 & Firmware 2.00 -- I upgraded it to 2.02 which is latest. Hope this helps someone. :)

same problem
I have the same issue. I contacted dlink tech support and they recommended that I downgrade to 1.04. There is a known issue with 1.05. Wouldn't you think they would pull 1.05 from their site if they know there is a known issue? Now I am seeing the same problem with 1.04. Thinking about picking up a Linksys. I noticed this router has terrible ratings on Amazon and other site.
i have wbr2310 wireless on a shaw cable connection ethernet modem. cable to modem then cable to router. all works fine other than my signal keeps dropping. i've read everything about wireless connection issues and still can't seem to resolve this. usually my router says excelent but my windows says fair to good connection. the drops are not evenly timed. sometimes its 2hours other times its 5 minutes. the router never resets itself unless i unplug and re plug it in.. anyone able to help trouble shoot this please?
I have the same problem. Wireless works great until it just completely disconnects and drops all the computers. The LAN still works though. You have to reboot the dang thing to get it to connect again. It's a hard reboot too as you can't get in via admin.
Same Issue it is a know faulty router no matter which firmware is installed. I at one point thought it could be my internet connection but Ive gone from DSL to cable and decided to pull it out the closet and give it another try Same thing no matter what every 1-2 days it drops and will reconnect to the router but not renew the IP to allow internet access and manually renewing IP does not work as well after the drop. Only a hard reboot fixes the issue. Ive tried all firmware .05 .04 .03 and will go no lower all issues I report are while using 3 different laptops all runnning different versions of VISTA. I've done the dlink tech support thing to no avail. As a certifified A+, NET+, & MCSE tech. I tell all to avoid this router and purchase something else. Buddah
