Scanner not working cannot find scanner WINDOWS XP

It worked all fine for two years on xp
dx 4850 printer works scanner not disconnected printern scanner uninstalled software
reinstalled scannersoftware on epson instrucrion
connected scanner restarted installed drivers
restarted computer nothing works (printer works scanner part not
he cannot find the scanner
started LINUX UBUNTU connected epson 4850dx printer and scanner work without installing so i asume printer is not broken

my scanner has worked perfectly for a couple of years but a week ago it appears as if my computer cannot find the scanner , I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled several times but to no avail.

I removed the power from the printer and removed the usb cable and restarted mycomputer, replaced the usb cable and the power , I could see that the computer had automatically uninstalled the driver and then found and installed the driver on restart but again to no avail .

I can see in the device manager that my epson stylus is listed but when I go to scaners and camaras from the controll panel it is not shown.

If I bring up the insall wizard it cannot find the scanner.

Hp scanjet4850 won't install on windows 7

This fix below will work for Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 8.1 guaranteed, the original software was for Windows XP only. HP have the necessary drivers and Vuescan is a third party scanner program, that is every bit as good as the OEM software, in fact I think it is better.
(1) Download and Install HP Scanjet 4850 Driver: setup_basic_4800_14-5.exe from http://www.hp-drivers-download.com/download/hp/setup_basic_4800_14-5.exe.html
(2) Download and Install Vuescan 64 bit: download from http://download.cnet.com/VueScan-64-bit/3000-12511_4-75328364.html

I can't run umax astra 4800/4850 scanner in windows 7. how can i fix it?

Have you downloaded the latest scanner drivers? Windows 7 requires latest drivers for such scanners.

Also you shoudl try the Windows XP mode in Windows 7 for such USB scanners. Here's a page in UMAX'w website that gives you more info.

Problem is apparently HP solutions center. I have a 6940 printer and 4850 scanner. I finally got the printer to work, but it reinstalls the printer drivers at every startup. When I try to scan, the link...

Try uninstalling the drivers for the scanner and the printer. Restart the computer without either the scanner or printer pluged in. After restart install the drivers and only plug up the USB cable for each device when asked by the software.

Mx700 will not scan even if the printer works well. I am using windows vista home premuim. it worked some some months and the about early this year the scanner stopped working. i tried using my other...

You will need to download and install the vista driver for this to work on your vista computer. XP & Vista drivers are not the same and that is the reason it will work on the XP computer but not on the Vista computer. Driver should be available from the hardware manufacturers website. My cd for Umax Astra 4800/4850 does want to work anymore

HP Scanjet 4850 worked fine until I replaced the OS with XP SP3

win xp is 10 years out of date so you have lost the driver for the printer by the upgrade
If you go to the hp web site there may be still a down load for your model printer that is compatible to win xp
if so select that and down load it
run the down load when asked
AS win xp , win 7 are both out of date and no longer supported by Microsoft you should consider installing win 10

Can I install the Mustek 600 usb scanner to a windows xp?

this is not compact able with Xp but you can try this it may work or not ................

Everybody who ownes a Mustek 600 II N scanner and want to install it under XP will notice it won't work. Mustek's website says the scanner is not supported under Windows XP.
I've tried this and it works fine here:
- Download the NT4 driver from http://www.mustek-europe.com/eng_/html/treiber/scanner_P_n.htm (select the exact drivers by looking up the first two letters of the serialnumber found under the barcode on the backside of the scanner)
- Before installing the driver click right on the .exe file and go to properties, compatibility and select 'Windows NT4' from the pulldown menu.
- Now install the drivers and it should work. I'm running Windows XP PRO here but i'm sure it will work under XP Home too.
If you own another, unsupported Mustek scanner you can try the same. Maybe it will work.

All in One Scanner/Printer problems

Go to this link and type "cannot communicate with scanner" in the search box. Click Search. Then select the "ERROR: Cannot communicate with scanner" link. You will see several things to try to correct your problem. Usually, this error shows up if there is another USB device connected which prevents the computer from "seeing" the scanner, even though it can print without problem. So do try to disconnect any other USB device (except mouse or keyboard) and reboot the system.
