I got some replacement sticks and pulled out the old stick and inserted the new and the stick does not work the pointer mover to the uper left. After trying the old stick It would hold position fine but after removing it the 2nd time I saw a small clear plastic part on the contacts of the old stick. I tryed to place this part (clear with copper looking fibers inpregnated inside for contact resones). I then installed the new stick with the plastic and the plastic would not stay in place. after several trys the plastic was dameged. Was the plastic part supose to stay on the main unit and not the stick? The new sticks did not come with the plastic part? Kinda lost for what to do now. H E L P (please).

Yes,the clear plastic part is very important for the analog joystick controller,it is a Conductive Rubber, I check in this link:
http://www.logictoyz.com/sony-psp/sony-psp-2000/psp-2000-parts/original-psp-2000-joystick-conductive-rubber-contact.html
they are original, it is rare
and some seller just have copy (OEM) one, like this
