Hi. try accessing the Start-up BIOS features by pressing F2 or Delete key when you see the Toshiba logo. Check for the Tab that will give you the control for the brightness/contrast of the screen. If that doesn't do anything then most probably the backlight (LED or CFL) must have been busted. and needs replacement.
Contact Topaz Support www.topazsupport.co.uk, they are the accredited Toshiba parts dealer in the UK, or buy online from http://www.jetmedia.co.uk/popprods.htm?Product=A000036980It costs about £50.00.The part number is A000036980. It's the same motherboard as the Toshiba Satellite P305 series.
Thats a Power On Password...I believe the only way that you can get around/reset/disable it...is by taking out the battery out of the Cmos. I will be looking for more ways other then that but thats one that i know works...
If you would like to attempt it...i dont recommend it for the no computer people...look up fourms and see if others have had the same problem or if people have taken the computer apart and replaced the cmos battery
if you used the recovery disc for your model the drivers could have been installed already. Now, you need to manually install it. If you don't have the driver disc then u can download it from Toshiba's website. Just look for your specific model. I still recommend to reinstall using the recovery disc. hope this helps u
