I accidentally reformatted my sandisk memory card losing all my photos, can i do anything? My husband accidentally clicked ok instead of cancel when it asked if he wanted it reformatted, thus erasing all of our honeymoon and wedding photos. HELP! I have a Canon PowerShot A550.

Futureloginn - Thank you so much for your quick response! I found this site by accident and I rest easy knowing I could contact you if I couldn't retrieve the pictures. The were recovered and so was my husbands chance at a 2nd honeymoon :)

I have a Nikon D60 and an SD Ultra 11 card. i have a new laptop and entered my card into it and it started reformatting card now i can't get npictures off it nor can i use it n my camera without formatting it and losing oictures what can i do.

I have ever formatted my camera memory card that has still held some previous photos by chance and fortunately have restored them all back with a camera photo recovery freeware:

OK! Be relaxed! Nowadays, the formatting process doesn't actually erase all your contained data on a digital camera memory card. The data is still there and only becomes invisible. So, as long as you've not overwritten it with anything new, you do have chances to get it back.

Formatting won't make the files on a memory card erase permanently.Those erased files are still stored on your memory card, it's just invisible or inaccessible.You can recover them with memory card recovery software. But once the deleted files were overwritten by new data,they are gone for good.

Accidentally switched my sandisk memory to 'lock'

Locking the card simply protects it from writes. It does not wipe out anything that was on it already.

If you're asking about a Memory Stick, there's a switch on the back. Slide it away from the "LOCK" position. If you're asking about an SD card, there's a switch on the side. Slide it toward the metal contacts.

I want recover my photos in my 4GB SDHC Sandisk Memory Card

click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your 4gb drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start

i found best results tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

I found that you get best results by ticking one box then returning after it has finished then tick the other box

I accidentally formated my memory card and am unsure how to unformat it?? Can anyone help? :)

Husband formatted our 8GB Sandisk Cruzer and I see it as a device in device manager, but I can not use it and can't change it to Fat32 or anything else. I don't want to worsen the situation. He inserted it into a reformatted computer, so it didn't recognize the device, and it asked if he wanted to format it and he chose yes, now it won't even work on our other xp computer. Help, please!

How to delete images off a sandisk extreme 3 2.0gb compact flash%3F

Pop your memory card into your card reader, wait about 15 secs and it will appear on your computer as a drive. Double click on this drive and you will see either a lot of icons corresponding to the photos on the card or a lot of thumbnail pictures of the photos. Again right click on the drive and click on select all on the popup box. When all the icons or thumbnails are highlighted left click on them and the click on delete on the next popup box. Whatever you do DON'T try to format the card with your computer. If you want to format a memory card for a camera always use the camera's format function to do so.

By the way, the photos can also be removed by using the delete function in your camera's menu display.

Make sure the record inhibit tab on the memory crd isn't activated. If it is you won't be able to delete anything.

SanDisk 4GB MicroHC card says card is dirty clean or format.

do you have a SD card reader for the computer? if not, getting one is a good idea. you can try putting the card into your computer to copy your pictures into your computer before formatting. And if you get the card reader from best buy. if this doesn't work you can always return it.

I can't import photos from memory card to computer

Reformatting will not help you and will lose everything on the card. Furthermore, do not attempt any repairs or data recovery until all other options have been exhausted. Have you tried the card in another Mac? Does a simple drag and drop action to your desktop work, or do you get the same or similar message?

Make sure the computer is hard-rebooted and attempt to import pictures from another card. If it fails, problem with program. If it succeeds, problem with card, but this does not preclude trying the above-listed options.
