Sometimes the door opens with one push of the button

Microwave doors are very important have contact switches that switch off if open or damaged. Interfearing with the door could lead to serious injury. The best way to sort doors tha wont open or close is to replace with old doors of the same make that does not have the same problem.

I AM ASSUMING THAT WHEN YOU ACTIVATE THE OPENING BUTTON THE DOOR REMAINS CLOSED - YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE SOMEONE TO ACTIVE THE BUTTON AND KEEP IT ACTIVATED - THEN PUSH ON THE FRONT OF THE FUEL DOOR. THE DOOR IS USUALLY PUSHED OPEN BY A SPRING. IT IS COMMON FOR THESE SPRINGS TO RUST AND THEY WILL NOT PUSH THE DOOR OPEN.

Does the motor run? Does it make a noise. What actually happens?

This happens with a lot of ovens. It's because the mechanism that locks the door is stuck. When the door doesn't lock you can't do a self clean. They don't want you to be able to open the door while the oven is 800 degrees? or so. Look just below the little button that gets pushed in when the door is closed, upper left, and you should see a vertical slot. This is where a little lever comes out and grabs the slot on the door. There is a microswitch inside that tells the oven if the lever has come out or not. Your lever is stuck.
You can test this in a totally dangerous way by opening the door, holding in the button, and turning on the self cleaning. If everything is correct you will see the lever come out to grab and lock the door, but your's won't because it's stuck. Jiggle it or push on it or pull on it with needle nosed pliers. It frees up pretty easily. But when it does, the oven will go into self clean, which you don't want it to do with the door open, so turn it off, close the door and try again. It should work fine.

Sounds like you have a motor problem draging and it can't get started I just replaced one same problem.

Anytime a door opens and/or closes by itself I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

any power to unit at all?? clear, start, clean ,button?? what happens when you push them??? clock on?what happens when you try to set to clean again??? it should activate hte door lock latch at which point cancel and it should reset itself. with any luck! what happened thankgiving how was it fixed
