Turn off power.
Unscrew cover plate.
Unscrew both screws holding switch into wall box.
Pull switch outward to stretch wires.
Take photos so you can reconstruct wiring if necessary.
Note color of each screw.
Green is for ground wire.
There are many different kinds of switches.
Single pole switch has two wires plus ground, and both screws will be same brass color, plus green ground screw.
3-way switch has 3 wires plus ground, and one screw will be different color than other two screws, plus green ground screw.
Remove wires from switch.
If wires are attached into holes on back of switch, notice there is small slot next to each hole.
Insert small screwdriver or metal nail file into slot while pulling on wire. This takes 3 hands, and then wire will come out of hole.
Replace each wire onto new switch, matching the old switch, tighten screws very tight, and then put switch back into box.
When pushing wires back into box, you want to keep the wires folded behind the switch as much as possible.
Wires are not harmed when scrunched back into box.
Put switch cover over switch so no possible spark can exit box.
Turn power ON, and try the switch.

Replace door switch

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Before you change you door light switch. Lets check it out. First, if you have changed the light bulb, did you use a refrigeration light bulb. These bulbs sometimes are available in your local food market. If you used a household light bulb it eventually will fail. The household bulb is not designed for cold temperatures.

All appliances require specific light bulbs designed to the application such as, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers. Of course they are more expensive $8.00-$10.00.

Ok, lets assume you have the correct appliance light bulb in your refrigerator. With the door open push on the door light switch. If the light comes on your door switch.

All door switches are basically the same they are plastic two contacts, except for one that is a 3 contact switch. The third contact controls the ice dispenser. This switch is on the left side of the freezer wall (Liner).

Ok, lets change a door light switch. Unplug your refrigerator. With a small flat head screw driver (or butter knife) wedge behind the plastic switch frame. Pop it out. Be careful, do not pull it out too far. You will see the two connectors. It may be difficult to remove the connector, so wedge them with a flat head screw driver (Or butter knife). Do not pull on the wires, just the metal connector.

Ok, with your particular model the contact switch is on the top of your unit. There are two screws holding the hinge cover plate. These screws are either Phillips head or hex head. Either 1/4" or 5/16" hex head. Remove the hinge top cover. You have one on each side. There is a connector. With a small screw driver, wedge into the connector to release it. The rest is yours.

Fan will not work unless wall switch is on

A ceiling fan can be wired in different ways.I prefer to connect only the lights to the wall switch, and the fan to the hot,so the fan can be used when the lights are turned off.You will need to locate the circuit to the fan and turn off the breaker.Remove the cover at the ceiling to access the wiring. The fan wiring is usually labeled, but I believe the light wire is blue, the fan wire is black, and the neutral is white. The light wire and fan wire are probably both connected to the same feed. You will need to rewire the fan to the hot(black) house wire. The light wire is fed from the wire after the wall switch-leave this as is if the lights turned on/off with the wall switch. After the rewire, turn the breaker on before replacing the cover, and verify everything is how you want it before replacing the cover.I usually remove the light chain to keep people from using the chain instead of the wall switch.

2005 FLTRI, Front brake lever won't turn off brake light.

Loosen the front brake master cylinder clamping bolts and slide the entire assembly down towards the right handlebar switch housing as close as it will go. If the brake light does not go off then, the switch in the right handlebar switch housing is broken and must be replace.

To replace the switch, you must take the two bolts that hold the housing halves together out. Lift the upper half and loosen the throttle cable and idle cable. Remove the throttle sleeve and allow the lower half of switch housing to come away from the handlebar. The front brake light switch is the small switch in front of the housing. Unsolder the wires, replace the switch with a new one, and resolder the original wires to the new switch. Reassemble the throttle sleeve and switch housing, adjust the throttle cable and idle cable and check for proper operation.

My tail lights stay on, why

Try this, Loosen the two bolts that holds the front master cylinder onto the handlebars. Slide the master cylinder as close to the right handlebar switch housing as possible. If that doesn't extinguish the light, your front brake light switch is probably broken.

To change the switch, you'll have to open the right handlebar switch housing by removeing the two bolts that holds it together, take the throttle and idle cables loose and get the lower housing loose from the handlebar. The switch is held into the inner face of the housing by a single screw. Take the switch loose and desolder the two wires leading to it. Replace the old switch with a new one and solder the original wires to the new switch. Reassemble the throttle assembly and the switch housing. Check the throttle for proper operation. Make sure the throttle "snaps" shut when you release the throttle grip. Improper assembly or adjustment of the throttle cables can cause the loss of control of the motorcycle resulting in serious injury or death.

BRAKE LIGHT STAYS

Usually, if a brake light is staying on, it's because of the front brake light switch. The switch is located in the right handlebar switch housing and is operated by a tang on the backside of the brake lever. Try loosening the bolts that hold the front brake master cylinder on the handlebars and slide the master cylinder out on the bars so that it is as close to the right handlebar switch housing as possible. If this doesn't extinguish the brake light, the switch is probably bad and needs replacing.

To replace the switch, you'll have to take the switch housing apart. Loosen the throttle cables and remove the two screws that hold the switch housing together. Take the cables out of the throttle sleeve and get the switch housing away from the handlebars. Remove the small screw that holds the switch into the housing. The earlier models had the switch soldered in. Not sure about the later models but you'll have to either solder the wires for the new switch or plug them on. Reassemble the housing in the opposite order. Be careful when you adjust the throttle cables. The throttle must operate properly, smoothly, and snap shut when you release the throtttle. If the throttle does not operate properly it could result in serious injury or death. Make sure that throttle works right.

Good Luck

Light houses aren't turning on.

Make sure your virtual wall batteries are fresh-- even if you're sure they are, try removing and replacing them just to reset the virtual wall.

Then reset your Roomba: hold down "spot" and "dock/demo" for about fifteen seconds. Release them and wait for the tune.

Recharge the Roomba and then try to run it. The virtual walls ought to respond at that point. If they don't, you might find that calling customer support may help.
