These codes control Sylvania TV with the RC65, & I suspect they work with the RC64: 11864, 10171, 11271, 11314, and 11394.

I installed systems for Directv, and whenever i went into a home that had a combo tv / vcr, i could never get a set to program properly. At the most on some sets the remote would turn the tv set on and off, but others functions were non responsive.
Press Mute and Select button together and hold it until TV mode flashes twice.
Using the number keys, enter 5 digit code for your tv brand.
Press Off button. Try every single code until your tv turns off.
Some common brands and their codes:
If your TV is - Sony, code is 10000 - Toshiba, code is 12006 (most models and make sure your remote control is version RC64) - panasonic 10250 most models - Samsung 10702 most models - sharp 10093 most models
If you're lucky it will respond to code 10178, if not then you will need a rc64 directv remote and try the proview codes. The proview codes are worthless in any other directv remote other then the rc64 series.
ALSO try code 10835.
PaulTulsa is actually incorrect, Directv remotes do allow this function. I had this problem too... but was able to fix it. You have to go back into the system settings menu. Depending on your receiver (I have the hr21-100) press "Menu" then scroll to "Parental, Fav's & Setup" then "Sytem Setup" then "Remote" then select "Program Remote". Scroll to "TV" then select the brand name (I also have a Samsun tv). Follow the directions to change the code of the remote and manually go through the codes they have posted. The second one worked for me. Good luck.
