Operation error when scanning

Ensure you have the most up-to-date drivers for your i1420: http://graphics.kodak.com/DocImaging/US/en/Support_Center/Document_Scanners/Departmental/i1420_Scanner/Support/Drivers_And_Downloads/i1400_Series_Scanner_Drivers/index.htm Looks like v3.09 is the most recent. If you are unsure of your version, download and install v3.09, if your drivers are out of date, the install will update your drivers. Test the scanner using the Scan Validation Tool (SVT). This program should be located in the Kodak folder in your start menu. SVT will test the scanner's functionality at a basic level alleviating all third party software variables. Please consult your owner's manual if you are unsure how to initiate a scan in SVT. If the 1420 scans perfectly then you need to contact IRIS for support: http://www.irislink.com/c2-2365-189/IRISPowerscan---High-Speed-Scanning-Software.aspx

Is there a wia driver for Windows 7 for the Kodak i65 Scanner?

Well I too HAD this problem. Upgraded to Win7 64 bit and was unable to install the existing 32 bit drivers (of course) that operate in WinXP and Vista. Called Kodak and there wonderful answer was Buy a New Scanner.

Well this was just not an option. SO I searched and searched for alternatives, to creating a WinXP Virtual machine with VMPlayer or VirtualBox to remote controlling an older WinXP laptop connected to the scanner. None were solutions I felt I could live with.

Then I found VueScan at www.hamrick.com. A small chea scanning software that you can try before you buy. I read through everything on the site including the specific scanner notes for the Kodak I65, then downloaded the trial version.

Once installed you follow the instructions from the site to use VueScans own driver to run the Kodak scanner and lo and behold I got my ORIGINAL Kodak scanner menu to work on Win7 64bit. Then I used the VueScan software to scan a document and it worked like a charm. Albeit with the VueScan watermark.

Now I could have stopped there and called it a success, but I then, tried scanning with my Nitro PDF Pro software and was amazed to get a Perfect scan without the watermark.

Now NOTE, I did not buy the VueScan software at this time, as I don't need it's ability. I just used their driver and driver installation instructions from the website specifically for the Kodak I65. Most likely going to buy the basic version of the software anyway, as I think the guy deserves something for saving my EXPENSIVE I65 from becoming a paperweight.

An Elegant and Complete solution to Kodak's total support failure!

My kodak ESP3 will print and copy but it will not scan as it did just a few weeks ago.

Hi,

When some device suddenly goes haywire, the first thing to try is refreshing its driver. Drivers are just software programs, and sometimes they get corrupted.
So try updating your printer's driver. The latest version is available for free download at
http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=12666/12667&product=EKN034524
While you're at the Kodak site grabbing the current driver, look around in the FAQ and see if others have reported a similar problem - or drop Kodak a note and they should respond.
If a new driver doesn't work, try updating the scanning software (it may be updated too by now), attaching your printer to a different USB port, or changing out the USB cable - in that order.
If none of the above work, your scanner could have "gone south" - but if so, check if the warranty will cover your trouble for replacement.

Good luck!

My Kodak ESP 3 Won't Scan

Did you install the full software driver for the all-in-one? The drivers are here: http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=9103/12666/12667&product=EKN034524

Next try a new USB cable and plugging the unit into a different port. If you use a print server or USB hub, try connecting directly to the computer. Scanners need bi-directional communication with the computer and thus are likely to have issues even if the printer doesn't.

Can the scanning software on the computer initiate the scan? (That is in the full software package. Alternatively Vista came with Paint and File> Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan.)

I hope this helps.

Scanner doesn't work

You need to have the Home center software installed on your computer. The home center software has scanning drivers of the printer. If the printer says scanning, may be the drivers on computer are not taking commands from printer. Kindly mention the name of printer.Kodak has recently launched a new version of software 4.2 . It usually solves the issues relating to scanning and printing from computers.Download the latest version of software from www.kodak.com/go/downloads.

Kodak esp-3 unable to scan from home center, but able to print

If you are getting a 1-2036 error then there maybe an conflict between the Kodak TWAIN driver and another TWAIN device, most of the time it is with a flat bed scanner. If you have another All in One printer or scanner connected unplug it and uninstall its drivers. If the issue continues uninstall the Kodak software and unhook the kodak printer. Then download the kodak clear utility from HERE
After the utility runs and you restart your computer Re-install the Kodak Printer software and select WEB install to get the latest version.

Hopefully that will solve your Home Center scanning issue.
