The exit button on the remote may not be working or some other button on the remote is jammed. Try removing the battery of the remote and switch off the TV manually and the input power. Wait for a few minutes and then switch on the TV manually. The try changing the menu from the TV control panel. If nothing works, this is a case to be handled by a qualified service technician.

Look both in the set's menu and that of a box if used; Under closed captions in either place look for a setting labeled TEXT, that is what is bringing up the black box, feature never really used much, find TEXT in either set menu or box menu if you use one, either place can cause this, not a problem just the text feature is on. Turn it off with the remote.

Have you gone into the menu and located Closed Caption or just caption and turned it off? It might be under the Audio menu or Features.

Try this:

In the menu go to CC and set the TV to CC1 as this is a text box appearing for captions. Hope this works!

Hello,
Try to hard reset the tv..Leave it unplugged for 4-6 hours and then plug it again and use..If this did not help Try to contact a service centre or service person because this is probably a hardware problem which definetly needs service and replacement!!...Thank you..

check all inputs on tv ,also check if menu on tv is working ,make sure lines arent being produce by another source, cable box etcc..If menu and or OSD are affected .Then there is a good chance you have lightning damaged some where in signal section on tv .
