The touchpad on the computer will not work and neither will the touchpad's mouse buttons. The cpu works fine using the keyboard albeit is a pain. The rivers say they are working properly and they are ELAN. humourously, though, they seem to think it is a mouse and PS/2 connected, so I worry that the touchpad has been diasbled because a mouse was previously installed. I do not currently have a mouse to try. AND more importantly, the option to disabe the touchpad whena mouse is installed is not clicked, so a mouse installation should not have disabl the mouse in teh first place

You can enter windows in normal mode when you remove the battery and boot with ac power on.
Disable the acpi compliant acpi battery module in the device manager.
reboot, now your keyboard and touchpad will work again.

Hiya, At the bottom right of the screen, by the clock, you should see an icon for the touchpad.....
Hint : Hover the mouse over the icons and wait for the "Pop-Up" Display to see what they do if your not sure.
When you find the one for the touchpad, simply right click it and scroll down to the option that says "Tap To Click" and left click it so that there is NO TICK next to it..........
........ This will DISABLE all tap click options and leave the touchpad as a touchpad and the buttons as buttons...........
Hope This Helps, Kind Regards,
Me :D

Have you tried blueinput http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=bluemouse it isn't free but there is a trail version which would allow you to see if it works. I had a version without the touchpad and I couldn't get the keyboard to pair consistantly until I used this, do you have pairing problems with just the keyboard part? I would pair but not respond. I am planning on getting this keyboard very soon so would be good to know if it helps.
To access Mouse Properties, select Start - Control Panel - Hardware and Sound -Mouse.
Use Mouse Properties in Windows to customize settings for pointing devices, such as button configuration, click speed, and pointer options.
