I have an Acer 1711 monitor. The monitor comes on for only a few seconds and then goes black. What should I do?
I have the same problem on my Acer AL1711. The monitor was out of warranty so I opened it up and found one of the 1000 mf capacitor almost ready to pop. A 50 cents replacement from allelectronics.com fixed the problem.
Not recommended for anyone without experience soldering electronic components to PCB's.
I changed capacitors 1000uf 16v and 470uf 16v.Monitor works as new...
1) It could be your power supply is going bad or not strong enough to keep the monitor on.
2) It could be a memory issue. Video is one of the signs that your ram is bad.
3) It could be a loose connection or the monitor itself.
I would suggest first unplugging all the connections to the monitor and pc then plug in again and restart. If it still turns off try a monitor that you know works. If you still have the problem try changing your memory sticks. It's unusual that it would be a video card/ on board video because it usually either works or it doesn't.

Thank you for your suggestions. I tried unplugging the monitor and reconnecting it. The results were no different. Right now I am using a different monitor, so I assume the power supply and the memory aren't causing the problem. Could the monitor just have died?
i have exactly the same problem, switch on monitor and Acer flashes on then desktop flashes and goes black. I have to switch on and off about 50/60times and eventualy the Acer comes on larger in size and screen holds and is then ok all day.
Had same problem. Fixed it like Solution #2 Had two dead capacitors thou, but the 1000 mf was one of them. Took the PBC to an pro. He changed them in 20 min time. Works like a charm
Yes i have same probleme bath i change cel 1000M 16v , 470m 16v and all ist ok !Tankcs!!!!!!!!!!
Solution #2 works. I replaced all 4 capacitors (2x470uF, 2x 1000uF) for sure.
