The bottom right 2/3's of tv is darker than the rest. There is a definite horizontal line about 1/3 of the way down the screen on the right half and everything below that is darker than the rest. It is the same on all inputs and doesn't change.

This is a known problem. Panasonic sells a jig to correct it. I had the same problem and bought the jig for $60. It plugs into a special port in the back of the tv behind a little door. You can read all about it here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthrea... if you want, contact me by replying and I can mail you the jig temporarily for $10 plus S&H. You'll save money and it worked for me, i just need it back.

I am also having problems with the same year and model number panasonic, it is at the repair shop now. I think it is a lemon tv. won't buy panasonics anymore. Tried all the fixes recommended by panasonic. It happens after the tv is on for longer than 1/2 hour. It happens with dvds and different hook ups. my samsung is fine on all the same connections.

You could have one of three problems. One is really expensing to fix and you might want to trash the set. Thats if the panel is bad. Secondly, it could be a buffer board that went back. Not as expensive as the panel. Finally, it could be the connection between the two. I would first take the back off and locate this board. Undo the ribbon cable and clean it off a bit and put it back. If its still there, you have a deeper problem.

If the screen split is exactly 50/50 top/bottom You are not getting SU or Scan Upper drive.
These are lovely set to work on.
Most likely is SU board itself - Not repairable just to be replaced.
Sorry I work in the UK so I can only guide that the UK part is around £30
SU may have been damaged by failure if the PDP (Plasma Display Panel) but is 9 years only had 2 screens damage the SU board.
There are several setups to do after fitting a PDP. If you don't have the service data - Do not risk it, Reduced life of the Panel and a safety risk.
