BLANK SCREEN MY SCREEN ON MY LAPTOP WONT COME ON ITS TURNING ON AND I CAN HEAR IT BOOTING UP BUT THE SCREENS JUST STAYS BLANK. IS THERE MAYBE A LOCK BUTTON ON MY KEY BOARD I WAS ON IT EARLIER TODAY AND WHEN I TRIED IT THIS EVENING THIS HAPPENED

Does the hard drive light blink like there is activity? It sounds like your laptop is not posting. Unfortunately on a laptop if it fails to post it is likely the motherboard..

I would verify first that you Cannot get the external monitor to work by using the function + Keys on your keyboard to enable the secondary display (Usually something like FN+F4) FN being the key on the lower left of your keyboard between ctrl and alt typically..

If you cannot get it to display, Try an ESD Discharge.. Basically unplug the power brick from the laptop, Remove the battery and try turning it on.. While trying to turn it on contact your fingers on the metal prongs that protrude from the where the battery was on the laptop. This will discharge any built up static electricity from the laptop. Try hooking it all back up and booting.. Good luck

1) UNPLUG THE LAPTOP
2) REMOVE THE BATTERY
3) HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO 2 MINUTES
4) THEN PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN
5) START IT UP

First thing you should try is:

reseat the memory chips (try booting just one single chip in one slot, if that doesn't work switch the module to the other slot)

Also I'd recommend booting without battery pack installed.

Let me know what happens or if anything changes with the above.

Your user guide might provide a mean to interpret the meaning of the blinking Scroll Lock Indicator...

just remove the ram and clean it and fix it again or you can try with connecting other monitor and make sure the laptop is booting properly only problem with screen.

You probably have a problem with the operating system not booting up. I suggest re-installing Windows operating system.

Hi,

first try booting the laptop and pressing the Fn key with the numerical ( numbered key ) that has a picture of 2 screens on it. This is for booting to an external monitor. you could also try adding an external ( pc monitor ) this will eliminate any motherboard Faults.

Secondly, the graphics chip driver may be corrupt or not installed correctly. if you have a restore cd, you could try booting the laptop, with the cd in the drive.

you can then try, to see if the settings in the bios are all correct, by booting/starting the laptop and pressing esc or F2 or delete immediately as the laptop starts. ** Be-Careful** what you adjust.
My suggestion is to look for. ** default settings tab** or load setup defaults.

these are the obvious things to try, before assuming that you have a faulty graphics chip or motherboard fault.

most likely the laptop presentation mode is on. press the Fn key and the F5 key together (maybe several times) to take it out of that mode.
