What happens if i disable IR

I turned IR off in my TV not knowing what it was. I have just browsed the definition for IR and think disabling it is probably why I cannot program my universal remote to control the TV. Am I correct in this assumption?

When you make the infrared sensor disabled, the TV won't response to any remote control there after.

SOURCE: programming a universal remote control for a tv

The code for a Sanyo TV set should be 100. Press and hold the TV button on the remote while entering the code. The light should blink 5 times if it was accepted, and then you can test to see if it worked.

I have tried to disable the inactivity time out using "updates." After I went through that procedure, my receiver still shut itself off in the AM. Why?

The updates screen shows two different options:

1) Inactivity time out. You CAN disable this feature.

2) Updates. You CAN NOT disable this feature. The receiver must shut down and download a new Program Guide and software (if needed) once each day. You CAN change when this happens, so choose a time that is most convenient to you. If you are watching TV at the time it needs to do this, you can select not to have it download, but eventually, the receiver will shut down to do its download anyway.

PS-if you are a commercial customer (your receiver provides programming to a TV or sound system in view/hearing of customers of your business) you can call customer service to have this feature disabled, but it can only be disabled for commercial customers, and the customer service you reach as a residential customer will have no idea what I'm talking about. Do not pretend to be a commercial customer if you are not, your bill will be much different, and not in your favor, and there will be no way of reversing it.

Dish Box turns itself off every night and not back on.

C Dunn,

I can definitely provide assistance with this. Whenever our receivers do their nightly update, the receivers do enter standby mode. There is no way to disable this, but you can definitely setup an Auto Tune timer. This will cause the receiver to exit standby mode and tune to a channel.

To set this up, find a channel you want the TV to go to, and choose the time you want the receiver to turn on. Press record from the guide. Select 'Auto Tune' from the list, and select 'Daily'. This will set it up to happen every day.

The option to change the default Recording TV is not available for clicking. It is grayed out. I am trying to turn the default to record on TV1 not TV2.

C Dunn,

I can definitely assist with this. You'll want to access the Record Plus screen from the menu to make that change.

To get there go Menu > Preferences > Record Plus. Once there you can choose a default TV to record, or disable the feature so it will record on the tuner you are using, first. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I have a 60 inch lg tv. The remote just stopped working Put in new batteries. Tv button lights up on remote but will not turn tv on.

Let me know model number of your 60 inch LG tv to find out possible cause of no remote operation.
I do not think that IR receiver is bad in your tv. Regarding dusty IR receiver lens, you can confirm it by sending remote signal by very close distance to tv.
There are few other possibilities of no remote operation problem instead of bad IR receiver.

My google chrome is not working it just says loading.i have un installed it then re installed it lots of times what is happening i am fed up with this.please help!!!

Dear sir,

"Its a java based conflict that chrome is battling, and has been since the very beginning. Obvious advice is to disable extensions, then disable java within chrome. Its almost a definite that you will see improvement afterwards, to further speed it up change to the google dns, disable HTTP scanning in your AV, and make sure you're not running any 3rd party java apps with google (unless its just the java applet from sun micro)

For lightweight browsing security use adthwart instead of adblock plus.
Internet Download Manager destroys google chrome at the moment so you will have to choose one or the other.(Makes chrome un manageable)

It seems that chrome definitely conflicts with other programs that use the internet in certain cases. So if it seems that it can't be chrome then it probably isn't. To know for sure shut down all programs except for chrome and see how it runs then, and if it still is slow then you have a java conflict."

RCA 27V412T FPA LOCK ON & REMOTE LOCK

If the front panel lock is on, you will need a working original remote (or a universal remote properly programmed for RCA) to turn the set on. The IR receiver is next to the buttons on the fromt but the RCA IR receivers are very reliable, and I have yet to see a bad one in a modern RCA TV. Once you turn the set on by remote, you can enter the menu and turn the FPA off.
