5. in region use UP/DOWN to change region
6. power off and power on

There are 7 different regions 0 is region free and 1-6 are country codes. Your region 2 and america is region 1 so this is why the player isn't working with your discs. Usually you can hack/overide the region setting on some DVD players. Sometimes this can be done with the remote but sometimes the player has to be modded. MMDV2 Region change procedure:
1) Turn Unit ON
2) Make sure there is NO disc in the unit.
3) Press TITLE on the remote control.
4) Press 0,1, 6, 7 and then ZERO for all
region, 2 for region 2 etc
