My HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One will not scan

When I try to scan a document under the Adobe I receive the message "No connection. There is no computer connection. Refer to device documentation to trouble shoot. Press OK."
When I push OK, I receive this message "No Scan Options. Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot. Press OK"
I press OK and it clears all messages, showing only the date and time.
I shut everything down (computer and All-in-One machine) checked all of the cords, turned everything back on and I still receive the same message.
I can not figure out where to locate the device documentation to try and troubleshoot the problem.
Is there any advise that you could offer me to resolve this problem?
I greatly appreciate any guidence that you can offer me.

if you have installed the full feature software of the printer on your computer then you would find HP solution center on the desktop screen. double click on it and then Solution center opens up.. then click on scan document and follow the on screen process it will scan..

My printer is evidently installed correctly, since I am able to print OK, but I cannot scan, I get an error message when I press start scan and OK - "no scan option", and refer to "device documentation"

on your computer go to hp solution center..
under that go to settings..
then scan button settings..
over there add all options to the right side..
then try..

HP Officejet 6310 All-in-one Scanning issues

I believe u have Vista. There is a known issue with Vista. The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the product. There is a workaround documented on the HP site. I had the same problem and this KB article helped me resolve it.
