One of the most common controllers, codes to help you and others.

Invacare MKIV R11 Flashing lights - powerc24.jpgpowerc25.jpg

VSI & VR2 Joystick error flash codes:
1 RED BAR:
Low Battery Voltage The battery is flat (more likely).
Or the battery has a bad connection (which is unlikely)
2 RED BARS: Left Motor Disconnected The left motor is disconnected. Check all the connections for physical disconnection or corrosion or burning usually caused by the salt poured onto the roads every winter.
3 RED BARS: Left Motor Wiring Trip The left motors wiring has a short circuit. Check all connections and leads for wear and chafing between the left motor and the battery cables or chassis
4 BARS: Right Motor Disconnected The right motor is disconnected. Check all the connections for physical disconnection or corrosion or burning usually caused by the salt poured onto the roads every winter.
5 BARS: Right Motor Wiring Trip The right motors wiring has a short circuit. Check all connections and leads for wear and chafing between the right motor and the battery cables or chassis
6 BARS: Activated if you turn on your wheelchair with an external device like the Charger still connected.
7 BARS: Possible Joystick Trip, Make sure that the joystick is in the centre position before switching on. If you still get this when switching on then joystick is probably faulty.
8 BARS: A control system trip. Make sure that all connections are secure and if so the power module or control pod is probably faulty. Test by substitution of known good one.
9 BARS: The parking brakes have a bad connection or have a failed solenoid, or any lever or switches that disconnect drive for pushing the chair manually may be pulled or switched.
10 BARS: Over voltage detected. This can happen with a bad battery connection although unlikely. More likely your battery charger is faulty and is overcharging your batteries quite severely.
1 BAR to 10 BARS and back in a "ripple" every few seconds. Joystick not cantered when turned on. Switch off and try again.
1 BAR to 6 FLASH every few seconds. System Asleep. Switch off and back on. Time before sleep can be adjusted or disabled in programming

Hope this helps, If so please click the "Yes" button

Regards, Mark.

If its rapid flashing it could be in free-wheel, check the levers on the motors

SOURCE: My question is related to

Ranch well the red flash indicates a low battery and the 5 flashes indicate a bad left brake. Now try charging the batteries until you get a green light on your charger then turn on the chair it shouldn't flash the red if the batteries are accepting the charge. If your batteries are 2-3 years old it could be time to change them. If Medicare paid for your chair then they will pay most of the repair costs. You can contact your provider for help or a service company like Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 or Repair Xpress @ 1-877-581-3733. If Medicare did buy the chair then you are eligible for a new chair every 5 years and yours is almost 8 years old. Contact a local provider that you trust to check into getting you a new chair. Hope this helps you

I have 1 green light and 3 red lights blinking, I've put new battery pack in and chair will not move. It's a Invacare pronto m91 surestep

OK, how exactly are the 'blinking'? Are the lights simply flashing with a short pause between each sequence or are they 'chasing' each other left to right repeatedly.
The style it is flashing is a code system to give the repairer an idea as to what the problem is. If they are just blinking, count how many times it flashes after each pause. This will give a clue as to what could be wrong.

While I was charging the power chair all the indicater lights came on and with a block lights went from all green to 2 red flashing lights, w/ 2 red lights flashing I stopped and shut it off 4 five se

Two red lights blinking means the electronics on the chair think the batteries are low. Test the voltage on the holes marked 1 and 3. Hole 1 is positive and hole 3 is negative. Your meter must be set on DC volts and the meter leads must be in Common and Volts. If your meter has to have the voltage range set, put it on 200vdc. The red lights will blink if the voltage is approximately 22.5vdc or less. The green lights turn on about 24.5vdc or higher.

My M41 invacare controller keeps flashing and it flashes 5 times. I don't understand what the fix for this.

If your M41 has the mark V controller that is seen pictured in the stock photo you provided, the 5 flash code is a left park brake fault.
1. Turn off the chair.
2.Disengage the left motor (levers are located in front under the seat) roll the chair back and forth and re-engage the left motor.
3. Engage the left motor.
4. Turn on chair.

If you happen to have the older Mark IV controller (has a toggle switch to turn on/off and three battery lights), the 5 flash code means the chair is receiving high or low voltage from the batteries. I would recommend having the batteries checked.

If the chair stops flashing, you are good to go. If the chair is still flashing, you will need to contact a technician to possibly replace the left brake. I recommend Repair Xpress FixMyPWC com Nationwide service and delivery solution for power...

The light blinks red 1 2 3 green

You can visit this website to find answers on what the flashing trouble indicator lights mean: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
Locate the page that has the controller used on your power chair/scooter and count how many lights are flashing to diagnose the trouble. If your insurance purchased the power chair for you, they may also cover the repairs; contact them for information.
Good luck!

The Pronto will not keep a charge so I replaced the batteries. Now the red and green light flash while charging and there is no power to the chair

Mckinzie the lights will flash when charging because of the inhibit mode. After you unplug the charger and turn the chair on do you get any lights at all on the battery indicators? If not lift up the seat and check your battery cable connections the neg cable from the rear battery should be connectd to the positve side of the front battery and the rear neg should plug into the small connector of the other cable. Make sure then that the large double plug is connected to the double plug going to the controller. while the seat is up then turn the chair on to see if all the lights come on. If not check that all your connections at the battery posts are tight. Also check under the two red positve battery post covers the two fuse links to make sure they are not blown. If all of this checks out the chair should come on and operate correctly Hope this helps
