SOURCE: How do you turn off

I have a d80 and it is probably the same answer. Toogle the navigation button ( the one that you use to go through your photos with) UP and DOWN this will get you back to the regular screen.

SOURCE: fEE error code on nikon d80

To solve this all you need to do is turn the lens' aperture ring (the one nearest the camera body) to the smallest number (probably 22 or 32).

Nikon d80 turn off image information from view screen

The up and down arrows on the multi-function button on the back of the camera set the image on the display. With the display on, press the up or down arrow to function through the display settings and the stop on the one you want.

This often happens when you accidentally hit one of the arrow buttons while taking the picture and this changes the display image to the histogram or other display setting.

Using canon Speedlite 300TL on Nikon D80 camera

The Canon Speedlite will work, but you won't get the full functionality of a Nikon Speedlight. Most importantly you won't get the through-the-lens metering.

Trying to decide between purchasing a Nikon D80 or 3100....any advice?

The D3100 is newer, for what it's worth. It has LiveView and video capabilities.

The D3100 is intended for beginners, the D80 for more experienced users. The D3100 is easier to learn, the D80 is easier to use once you learn it. The D3100 is lighter, the D80 is more rugged.

The other major difference is that the D3100 does not have an autofocus motor, depending on the lens to have one. This means that some lenses (those not designated AF-S by Nikon) will not autofocus on the D3100 while they will on the D80.

The ultimate decision is up to you. Only you can decide which features are most important to you. Also, if you can, try to get your hands on the actual cameras. See which one feels more comfortable to you.

I have a nikon d80 camera and when i take a picture instead of the picture appearing on the screen, i get a list of menu items and it blocks the picture. it didn't used to do that, but i can't figure out...

I had this problem too and then I figured it out. If you click on the up button it pulls up your histogram, just keep pressing it till it shows just the picture. I will scroll through the index, histogram, highlight, and then normal. Hope this helps.

Deh778 question about Rgb histogram not turning off.

If you haven't solved the histogram issue by pressing the multi selector up or down or rotating the sub-command dial to choose photo information display then OK.  The D80 is a very reliable "prosumer" camera meaning it's more than a consumer model offering better quality and features commonly found on professional camera models, if you are a budding photographer and desire more control over the images you take and the options to take creative images working with the amount of light, the shutter speed and may other aspects the pros do then it's worth it, if those features are not important then having all the control might be a problem if that isn't what you are after.  Early digital cameras were pretty poor quality and could never compare to film cameras, even the early model D70 had some issues with battery life.  Take the time to learn about this camera and you will be very happy.  I know several professional photographers who use the D80 and find Nikon stands behind the camera.  If you have any other specific problems or issues let me know, I'd be glad to go over them.
