Replace STK convergence IC's w/OEM or better parts.Senior tech soldering ability needed. Ex==Steel jumper wires feeding b+ to conv. IC's need resolder to prevent call-back.Also, best re-alignment done in service mode==consult service literature.

You will need to replace the convergence ICs. You can order them at this link and they provide free support as well as installation instructions with pics so you can do the repairs yourself. You will need to replace both convergence ICs

spyke,
You might try setting in manual convergence and see if you get the same results. If so, YES, I would say that you possibly have to replace the convergence amps Q751 and Q752... That unit takes two stk392-110 Sanyo amps. When you buy them don't get knock-offs for some cheap price or you'll do the job twice. Order from someone like ACME in Florida. You can up the amp rating to 150's or 180's if 110's aren't available - but 110's will work just fine... Check your return resistors out in front of the amps also for any deviation in value.
You might also check for the presence of your -32v at Q783 and if missing replace it also - but from what symptoms you're describing it may only be the convergence amps..
Be glad to send you the manual, just email me personally and give me enough info as to what you need - I get nearly 3000 emails a day so "send me the manual" will not be enough to jog this old man's memory..
Good Luck!
Bill

What was the STKs that was in set ? If 110s always upgrade to STK392-180s. If they were 392-560s go back with the same. they worked differently then the 110s 150s 180s
