Hi,
Chessmaster 9000 needs the disc to be always in your computer in order to be played. If for example you just install the game then you remove the disc, it'll ask always for the disc to be inserted.

It was made before vista, however some programs do work for vista. This unfortunatly isn't one of the lucky ones.
However, you could try googling programs that emulate pre vista os. That or buy a small Harddrive (around 5-10gb cheap) so you could play older games. Good luck.
