Hi, When I plug in my ipod, iTunes comes up with a small window saying 'The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (1140). Please tell me how to fix this!!! Has anyone had this issue before and knows how to fix it? Please help! Much appreciated!
Yes, I have had this problem. First, I would disable the automatic sync with the iPod and ITunes. You can do this by going into preferences in iTunes. Download the latest version of iTunes by checking for an update. Then click on your iPod in iTunes and restore the iPod to its original setting. This will erase the whole iPod. Then you can sync it with iTunes again. That should fix the problem.

Make sure iTunes from your computer is up-to-date. Currently, the latest version is 9.0.3. You should at least have iTunes version 9 to make sure this error doesn't occur.

When you plug the iPod in, you should see the "Restore" option in iTunes. This will wipe the iPod and start over from scratch. DOING THIS WILL ERASE ALL OF THE DATA ON YOUR IPOD!!! If that works, you can then sync again and put all of your songs and apps back on it.
