SOURCE: dell latitude e6400 laptop webcam?

For the Dell Latitude E6400 The Webcam is actually optional. To check whether you have it on your laptop look at the top of your screen. On the left of the display latch, you are supposed to find 3 items there if you have a webcam. The left most side is the microphone, so it is actually a very small hole, followed by a small light, the indicator for the webcam and a small circular one that is the webcam. If you do not have any of these on the left side of that latch then your latitude did not come with a webcam.

SOURCE: dell latitude e6400 hard drive failures - is this

yes it is a trend, my company purchased over 1000 of these horrible units and continuously we have to replace the failed drives. All seagates. From the D series with their faulty video cards they didnt admit but finally did and extended the warranties (unpublished) to another year, to the E series and their cheap screens and harddrives. We will never buy Dell again. We are talking about millions lost because some empty head at Dell didnt QA properly.

In order to reset your bios password you will need to contact Dell Support by phone. They will verify ownership and then provide you with bios reset information. Below are Dell support phone numbers in the US.

I have a Dell latitude E6400, when I swich it on, it is says I need to an admnistrator password. Wha should I do?

The administrator password has been set and must be supplied to allow the unit to load. This could be a BIOS password or an operating system password. You did not specify which one, but it sounds like it is BIOS. Either is resettable with available software diagnostics, but usually is a depot solution for the not-so-technical. Hopefully you did not come into possession of a "hot" machine which the original owner password protected. There are a lot more of these "floating around" these days in the present economy! I see about 2 per month which wind up being stolen machines. Be careful! It is a crime to possess a stolen machine, even if you did not take it!!

FORGOT BIOS PASSWORD DELL LATITUDE E6400 HELP ME PLEASE...!!! THX

The above solution does not work on an E6400. Any fix regarding removal of battery, shorting pins together, etc does not work. However, what does work is to use the Dell Asset/Service Tag BIOS Reset Tool that is available on Torrent Sites. Boot the CD image and when you are asked if you want to delete/change the service tag select "Y". When asked for the new service tag number re-enter your current service tag. Then the tools erases the BIOS and inputs the new service tag. A by-product of this process is that the BIOS master password is removed from the BIOS.
