Colored blurred view and pictures

Please help. When I turn on my camera my screen/view is blurred. Not in a blurry person kind of way - but like a psychedelic kind of way. Blurry lines of purple and blue. I can't even see that person or thing I am trying to take a picture of. I changed batteries and still nothing. I tried downloading a picture of it but it won't read it as a picture. It's hard to describe, but as I move the camera around it just drags the colors around and you can't see anything. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for your help. I didn't think the picture loaded but I found it on my computer.

Here is what it looks like on the display and when you take a picture.

Any advice - even 'buy a new one' would be helpful.

Do you have any idea if if would just be cheaper to get a new one?

    Thanks so much!

Hi everyone, I was able to use the link above to Cannon and actually called Cannon to speak to someone about this. I was able to send the camera back (shipping paid by Cannon!) And they fixed it at NO CHARGE!!! Yahoo!! Thank you all SOO much for your help. It's like I have a brand new camera! If you are still having this problem - CALL CANNON. If I have to buy any more cameras - I'll stick with Cannon. Great support!

My screen is doing that too!!

  • Anonymous Mar 29, 2007

I think it is the wireing. It did that before and then went back to normal for a few months and now it has that exact same screen and seems to be getting worse. The purple and pinkish colors are now a faded bluish purple.

I've had my camera for two years i think. And just in the past few months it has been having problems. When the screen is normal, it sometimes has horizontal lines that jump around on the screen.

I am getting the same problem now. This is exactly the same problem they ask for recall. Follow this link to get free fix from canon USA. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&keycode=2112&fcategoryid=221&modelid=8776

Readers should be aware that Canon (and possibly other camera manufacturers) have recently announced various recalls (with free repairs and prepaid shipping) for CCD problems. Even if your camera is several years old and not in warranty, you might be entitled to a free repair. If you Canon camera has failed for any reason, or especially if it has image problems, check out the Canon website in your country. In the USA, go to the Canon USA website, select your camera model, and click on the "Service" link. Here is a direct link that worked in June 2006 (Enter it all on one line): http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro... Or simply telephone Canon technical support (dial directory assistance) and ask about camera recalls. You'll need your make, model, and serial number.

Do these lines follow horizontal and vertical paths, or are they sweeping even curves? If the lines are curved then your LCD screen has gotten cracked and will have to be replaced. If the lines follow straight horizontal or vertical paths then it is most likely the connection between the screen and the control board or the wiring itself connecting to the LCD. If none of these describe what you are talking about it is possible that your imaging CCD has failed or its connection to the control board is faulty. If this is the case you would see a generally normal looking image except the colors would be all wrong, looking very much like a color film negative or missing certain tones entirely. Wow.. I have never seen that before. I will check around the shop and see if anyone else recognizes the symptom. Stay tuned.

Is there any way I can clear up a blurry picture on this camera once the pic is already taken?

On TV shows, they can take a blurry picture and enhance it to crystal clarity. In real life, however, those kinds of miracles aren't possible. In a photo editing program like Photoshop Elements, you can bring up the sharpness a little but you eventually reach a point where the picture no longer looks like a normal picture. The slogan is "garbage in...garbage out"...meaning you can only do so much to what you have to work with.

All of a sudden everything is out of focus and very blurry, pictures and even through the view finder. we took a few pics tht turned out normal, set the camera down picked it up about 5-10 minutes later...

If the viewfinder is also blurry, it might be as simple as a smudge on the lens. Is the blur uniform and consistent on the pictures and in the viewfinder? Was there a curious dog nearby when you set the camera down?:)

Blurred color images

I'm not sure of what brand and/or model you have, but most have a maintenance mode to do color alignment.

Recording very snowy and blurred.

If recordings are only blurry and snowy on playback on camcorder, but are OK on a different camcorder or on computer, then the problem is a dirty magnetic head. Use a mini-dv head cleaner tape. If recordings are blurred even on pc or on a different camera, then there is a fault. Faulty CCD sensor, faulty digital board, problem with internal ribbon connector, and dirty or defective lens assembly can cause this kind of problem.

LCD screen is extremely blurred

It is probably not the LCD itself, but an element that is protecting the LCD is bent out of shape.

Photo's blur alot

Blurness doesn't happens because of the number of the pixels in the cameras.
Is the picture on the computer screen blur/the cameras screen or the lens hole?

I suggest you to set the camera on Automatic station (red camera on the wheel) in day light, try to stay still see how blur the photos are when you are not playing with the parameters. it it's still blurry it could be the pulley block next to the -eyepiece. roll it until it's not blur.

Lcd is blery

What you describe may be caused by several different faults. Do the pictures from the camera show the same blurry washed out look? It may be either the aperture is stuck wide open, or the shutter may be similarly stuck open. Can you describe the symptoms further?
