The most likely causes are an open thermostat on your magnetron or the internal fuse. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your base model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 The fuse is shown on diagram 5 and the thermostat on the magnetron is on diagram 8. Not enough venting. Imagine putting your hair dryer on full and putting it that cabinet. Would your venting keep it cool? Your microwave oven uses about the same current

Sounds like the electronics overheated. You'd have to pull it and examine the insides to see what has gone bad. It could be pretty much anything.

My microwave turns completely off... Touch pad and lights inside... I have to wait 10 seconds to 10 minutes and then it turns back on and will ask if you want to set the clock. Sometimes it will let me...

Hi Ben,
This has got to be an intermittent power to the control PCB problem. The control board asking to set the clock means that the CPU has been reset by losing power. First, make sure that the problem is not the outlet by plugging in a small lamp or digital clock to see if it works intermittently or resets. Leave it plugged in for at least 24 hours.
(If using a lamp, put in a small 20 watt light bulb or CFL).
It could also be a bad connection to or at the fuse holder in the microwave oven. If all of the wiring and connections look good, it's most likely a bad connection on the control PCB probably around the transformer on the board. Be careful.......

It sounds like it could be just a bad crimp connector supplying power to the whole system, which would have to be the fuse holder on the mains input panel.
Worth a look!

Does not cook - time counts down extremely fast

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.
and please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.
