The screen is supposed to go blank while it loads the game. Try waiting a minute or 2 for the game to fully load up as some games can take a little time to load.
Once you insert the CD, go to Start -> My Computer, and Double Click on the Drive that has the Hoyle Picture. This will either start the Installer/Auto-run window, or it will open a series of files. Double click on Setup.exe if it does not autorun.

Since I had bought the game at BEST BUY I took the second game down there and marched to the GEEK SQUAD counter and told them THE sales people said this woould work on my Windows XP computer. (Obviously it didn't I said.) I told them to take the disk and check it out and TELL me what I needed to do and what the problem was. They did and it loaded on their computer beautifully! WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM? Answer: I needed a DVD DRIVE. HOW DID I SOLVE THE PROBLEM?...I went to OFFICE MAX and they told me to buy the EXTERNAL DVD RECORDER for $99.00. It would then load up and play my game. It did just that and I love the game SO much....I am now going to go back to best buy and buy the Card games and the Boardgames!!!! I DID NOT NEED TO PURCHASE YOUR ANSWER FOR THE $9.99 price. I HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THIS TROUBLE WITH THESE GAMES...INCIDENTLY, I figured how to get administrator's priviledges to play the new games. AND it's not a little picture with your name and computer administrator under it. It will say ADMINISTRATOR in big letters and you log on to this....the trick? As soon as you turn the computer on rapidly keep pressing F8 until you get to a message screen that says safe mode...arrow up to this, click on it, and then do what it says on the screen..................
