The Lexmark X2600 requires both cartridges to have ink in them to continue printing, even if your printing in "black and white". To
print true black, you actually use some of the color ink. , Leaving the color cartridge empty or dry isn't good for the printer. It can
lead to poor print quality issues.
You can only use the black ink cartridge without the color ink. But no need to replace them in your printer.
When you print just choose black and white for the printed text must be black not colored. But if you still received such notification...just try to replace the color ink cartridge to continue printing
Note:
As per my experience. printer with exclusive black ink alone will damage the printer easily due to unbalance printing of ink
if u want to print selected document in black than open the document select print go to printer properties select grayscale printing
always print in black
go to printer properties than go to maintenance than go to ink cartridge setting select ink cartridge black only for balck and white printing only.
OR
CHANGE CARTRIDGE
Take out the black cartridge once you've determined that you are completely out of black ink. You'll have to rely on the dark hues from the color cartridge to print in black.
Adjust the printer software settings. Once you take out the black cartridge, your printer's software will typically warn you that you are missing a cartridge. Follow the instructions for your printer to allow the printer to print without the black cartridge. Then set the printer to print in black and white, not color. This overrides the black cartridge and allows the printer to access the dark hues of the color cartridge.
Print a test page to ensure that your printer now prints black using the color cartridge.
Print your documents. Bear in mind that your documents may not appear as black as normal. Still, they should be dark enough to pass for black, depending on how much color ink you have and the strength grade of the ink.
Please check if your Colour Ink Cartridge is not emply. If their's ink in the cartridge then try to service your printer through the Print Preferences. Your Colour Cartridge Nozzels could have been blocked thats why your printer is unable to print in Colour.
In case if both the above doesn't work then check in the Print Preferences that you should not have saved the option of PRINT DOCUMENT IN BLACK ONLY. hope this helps , AJ
if your document only black and white , the machine only use black ink, no going withdraw the color ink. but you have had to leaved the full color ink in the machine.
Im sorry to inform but yes, Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.
How do I get a Lexmark 2600 to print in colour? I can only print in black and white.
