You may have to split the housing for this. I have seen where the pin can become bent or where the plastic housing becomes worn at the pin and allows it to move around too much. They usually also have a small spring with the pin which may have failed.

Whereto get manual for roto zip z20

The manufacturer's web site has the manuals for many of their tools on their support page: http://www.rotozip.com/en-us/support/Pages/Manuals.aspx . If you have the RZ-20, the direct link to the manual is http://www.rotozip.com/en-us/support/Documents/WEB2610938267%2002-07%20RZ1-25.pdf .

I don't know of a Z20 from RotoZip. I hope this helps.

Rotozip scs01

I've broken a couple of Rotozips. They say there is a replacement part available from the company, but I found it much easier to just replace it, as they have hidden springs and little parts that are real easy to lose ( I tried to fix 2 of them and now have lots of spare parts for the next one I break!). I paid $25.00 and about $10.00 for shipping for the button and lost the spring, and the button is very model specific - meaning it will only work on that model!
Hope this helps!!

Rotozip ZM3 Zipmate lock button is stuck in down slanted position. This is the 2nd one that this has happened. A home depot rental person took it apart and supposedly fixed it but when we tried it again,...

I know this is an old post but for those who have the problem now... This problem happens when you go to change the blade and the flange bolt is stuck. When you put a larger 5/8 wrench on the bolt, and push in the lock button, you ultimately put too much torque on the button and the plastic surrounding the lock button gives way and the whole button bends over. Merely disassembling the head and straightening the lock button does NOT fix the problem as now the surrounding plastic is deformed and the lock button will bend right back over. It happened to me. My fix is not for everyone. It involves removing the lock button, rebuilding and reinforcing the plastic area with JB Weld, and re-drilling the hole thru the JB for the button. You can't buy a new case half, so if you don't try this, just throw it away. It's a bad design.

Did you ever solve this problem? Mine just did the same thing right after I put a new blade on for the first time I ever used it
