Was sewing fine, then started jamming. Thread is getting caught and tangled below the feed dogs, needle bounces up and down, hand wheel won't turn. Tried re-inserting bobbin, same thing happened. Then took apart lower section, pulled out loose thread, which seems to have wrapped itself around the bobbin case. Brushed everything out and put it back together, it did the same thing again. Also tried re-threading upper thread, same results. Have Shark model # 9110.

You need to replace your shukle that holds the tread bobbing below.it is either slack or broken . if it is slack then you tighten the little screw that holds a cover that gives the thread tension .if its broken then replace it.once the thread is slack below it will cause your thread to bundle up.

If your Singer 5825C sewing machine is not moving forward and the handwheel on the side is not turning, there might be a few potential issues that could be causing this problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Thread Jam or Tangle: Check the area around the needle, bobbin, and feed dogs for any thread tangles or jams. Even a small piece of thread caught in the mechanism can prevent the machine from moving.
Bobbin Winding: Ensure that the bobbin winding mechanism is disengaged. If the bobbin winder is engaged, it can prevent the machine from sewing.
Presser Foot Position: Make sure the presser foot is in the down position. Sewing with the presser foot up can cause the fabric not to feed properly and prevent the machine from moving.
Needle Position: Check the needle position. If the needle is not inserted properly or if it's bent, it can cause the machine to jam and prevent movement.
Feed Dogs: The feed dogs might be stuck or not moving properly. Check for any debris or obstructions around the feed dogs and ensure they are moving freely.
Machine Lubrication: Insufficient lubrication can cause the machine's moving parts to seize up. Refer to your machine's manual for guidance on proper lubrication and maintenance.
Belt or Gear Issue: If the handwheel is not turning, it could indicate a problem with the belt or gear mechanism inside the machine. This might require opening the machine to inspect and possibly replace these components.
Machine Jam: If you've encountered a particularly tough area while sewing, it's possible that the machine is jammed. In this case, you may need to gently rock the handwheel back and forth to release the tension.
Professional Service: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to contact a professional sewing machine technician. They have experience with these machines and can diagnose and repair any mechanical issues.
Before attempting any troubleshooting or repairs, make sure the machine is turned off and unplugged from the power source. If you're not comfortable with any of the steps or if the issue seems complex, seeking professional assistance is recommended to avoid causing further damage to the machine.
Fabric jamming in your machine may be caused by the feed dogs. The feed dogs are those tiny teeth along the sewing machine underneath the presser foot as those teeth pull the fabric through when the needle is making stitches. Lint or debris in the feed dog area can jam the mechanisms preventing them to move.
Incorrect tension for material. Old knotted thread. Bobbin thread and needle thread must match. Thread and needle size suitable for the material being sewn.
Feed dogs underneath need cleaning. Thread tangled underneath feed plate. Needle too old or bent, or blunt.. Hope this helps
Hi, here are a few reasons it could be.1. use same thread in bobbin and needle.2. thread too old. 3. Cheaper thread frays and knots.
4.Thread and/or needle, incorrect size for the material sewn
5. Incorrect tension for the material sewn. And 6, thread tangled underneath feed dogs or bobbin. Hope this helps. :-)
The needle never moves forward/back on its own for most sewing machines. The needle bar goes up and down. The fabric moves due to the action of the feed dogs. First remove the fabric from under the presser foot. Check for tangled thread wrapped around the feed dogs or fabric/thread going down into the bobbin area in a tangle. Next check if the feed dogs are up. (When the feed dogs are down or covered (on some machines), the machine is in darning mode. The fabric will only move if you move it yourself.) With the fabric out of the way, rotate the hand wheel and check if the feed dogs are moving. Open up the bobbin compartment and clean out any lint, thread or other debris that may be tangling the mechanism. Take off the throat plate and check the feed dogs. A damaged throat plate can stop the feed dogs from moving properly. You may need to replace the throat plate.
For some machines, you may need to make sure that the unit is not in bobbin wind mode. This is usually obvious since the needle bar won't move either.
Check to be sure you have not inadvertently dropped the feed dogs on your machine. Dropped feed dogs are used for 'darning' or 'free motion quilting.' Below is info from Troubleshooting Manual:
Fabric does not feed through the machine The feed dogs are lowered. Use the feed dog position switch to raise the feed dogs. 81 The stitches are too close together. Lengthen the stitch length. 42 The wrong presser foot was used. Attach the correct presser foot. 179 The needle is bent or blunt. Replace the needle with a new one. 34 The thread is tangled. Use scissors, etc., to cut the tangled thread and remove it from the race, etc.
In my Brother CE-4000, it appears as though the feed dogs (which you can change to a higher position or a lower position) are allowing the bobbin case to spin all the way around and then the needle hits the bobbin case. When the feed dogs are in the lowest position, the bobbin case does not spin all the way around when the needle moves up and down (and therefore the needle does not get stuck in the bobbin case. I am wondering if this is a problem with the feed dogs/case?
There has to be a problem in your threading or your needle. You may have the needle inserted backwards, flat side has to face rear or the needle is bent. Totally unthread your machine and make sure that there are no tangles and that it feeding the right way. Watch how they show your for threading and winding the bobbin, plus threading the bobbin. Good luck, but I truly think it is in your threading.
It should move a little so the thread has clearence. If the thread is bunching underneath, it usually means the thread's not in the take-up lever or top tension is too loose. If you're needle has hit the bobbin case and created needle marks, the thread can get caught... in which you'd need to replaced the bobbin case.
when the needle pulls the fabric into the feed dog you dont have enough fabric behund the neelde when you srart, and the fabric gets caught in the feed and the bobbin case underneath clean it out anf change the needle they often get bent after they get tangled in the thread and fabric
